It is very early to critique it just yet, but from the line work I see it looks good. With dragons there aren't too many anatomy rules so there's nothing really like that I can comment on. I suppose the neck could be bigger, however it is a dragon, make proportions whatever you feel is right ;) It looks like a good start though :D

the neck is too thin, just doesnt look like its strong enough to hold up the head. i like the head alot except the ey e seems kinda funny to me
like WildSpruceMoose said its pretty early for any real c&c but it looks like its gonna be a pretty kick ass drawing

I've decided to draw it first on paper, and later on with my tablet. I think that's a lot easier. :D
But thnx for the comments, and yeah, i will fix that eye.
And maybe the neck :)

You should fill the bg a bit, so that it is easier to see the Dragons form. at first I though the head was only the part that was dark outlined, then I realized that the mouth was actually open...

Hehe, but hey, it's far from finished :D
I know it's hard to see what is the dragon, and what isn't, but when it is finished, i'll make the background a bit darker/lighter.
But first i will make some sketches on paper, and then i will work on the tablet drawings. :)

His neck does get thinner at one point -- if that is perspective the spines should be less visible there because the roundness of the neck would block the view.
But it's a nice concept! Color!

Ehm...I don't really understand what your saying... :\
But can i have some c&c on my first try to color?

Your first attempt at coloring is good.. just work more on some shadows and dont use the same color all the time, try having a deeper, softer and lighter version of green to color that dragon.
And what he mean is that the neck of the dragon is too small.
It should be much thicker...
open a dictionary if you dont understand it...

Thanks Severith!
And yeah, i think i will change the neck. Because everyone says it looks weird. :D

Great stuff, on the coloring of the dragon i would suggest you...
1) relook at the dragon's neck. it gets very very narrow. It first wouldn't support the anatomy of the dragon's throat, and second it wouldn't support the weight of the dragons head.
2) add some more to the background, even if it's just highlights around the dragon's head.
besides that just have fun!
ps: don't sign your work until you are done.

this one is for Davi actuallly,
quote
"ps: don't sign your work until you are done."
Interesting point, never though about it... why? The way I see it a signature is a bit like copyrighting ones work (if someone knows the legal matters, please correct me).
If you show an ufinished concept sketch, you would still people to know it is yours... You say " well, duh... of course it is yours, you started the thread!"

2) add some more to the background, even if it's just highlights around the dragon's head. Hehe, i'm just a n00b...i really don't know how to do that, i think i will play with some colors...and hope it will work :o
besides that just have fun! I think...that's not to difficult :chug:
ps: don't sign your work until you are done. ...first...i don't wanted to color it...so i was ready...but later, i wanted to color it, so i wasn't ready :P
[Edit]
Here is my update from my color version...and...i can tell you, i'm far from happy with it :(
I really don't like it...i'm only a little happy with the head.
You all must help me, what must i do? what must i change?....

well...it does seem a little thin to me , the neck...but not impossible... just maybe feels like it might snap anytime ? ( esp at the arch area )
other than that , more texturing and depth ( shadows , highlights ) might bring it to life more...
hope this helps

Well really, it doesn't matter when you sign your work IF you're talking about copyrighting it because its copyrighted to the artist the second they create it....

Did a quick sketch over of your dragon.
I like your colors and think its coming along nicely, but I agree that the neck is to thin. I drew in red bone structures, and in yellow where the skin/muscle expands to.
Something else to think about... The fin that is on the base of his jaw, where do the bones connect to? I'm assuming the skull, maybe create some more shadows/highlights to bring that out. Just my 2 cents.
Other then that nice piece, I like the saturated colors. Are you going to add the flames like in your first sketch?

Good decision Tayama!
No one expects from you doing all the things right...it's only important to transfer the hints and the things you learned by this thread to your next pieces...so what i want to say is:
"If we see any fault that was found in this thread on your next piece, YOU'RE FIRED!" :D

hm-hm,nice colour,nice pic(that last),but ohhhh the neck!
i've drawn dragons many times and that neck thingy would never keep the dragon's head,it would break as soon as he lifts his head from the ground.
the neck has to get even thicker from the point where it is fastened to the head.
if u want to make a thin neck you havta make the neck approach thinner-or the head.the way it is now,the dragon wouldn't be able to live, most of all not when he's spitting fire.
remember the recoil(i think there has to be some)
otherwise nice details:)

Yeah, thnx for your support!
But i just want to make it a little more non-realistic.
But i agree the neck is Too thin. And i think i will fix the neck as soon as possible. :)
Thnx!

I appreciate people using my art as inspiration/reference, but please don't blatantly copy/trace elements of my images, even if they're just from my old sketches.
