no one has replied yet?
it's a cruel world out there in sketchbook land these days! so many sketchbooks, so little time : ]

anyway enough blabbing. you have some nice stuff here. good to see you doing them studies, i should really be doing the same...

my favourite is this one (http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2366/shirayuki0qt.jpg) - i love the dynamic pose and the loose yet firm lines for the clothes. if you could get the same accuracy and confidence in your lines for the actually figure, then you would be seriously rocking! with more and more studies, life drawing and practice, you'll get more confident in where you put your line.
the actually anatomy is fine, but it does seem a little stiff in places. try doing some exercises where you have to draw the whole figure in just a few minutes. either in life drawing or with anatomy books. this will help you to loosen up, and your drawings will benefit greatly from it. try not to worry about how it will look. a sketchbook is for you, not others. if you draw a quick loose sketch and it looks rubbish at first, who cares? with practice you will get better. and then when you go to draw at a normal speed, you will notice a greater sense of your own style coming through.

hope this makes sense. just try a few loose sketches a day.
try and get everything in with out taking your pencil off the paper.
try get everything in in as few lines as possible.
try getting everything in in as little time as possible.
these suggestions may sound a little lame, but try them out. i think your drawings will improve greatly from them (and they are already awesome!)
hope this make sense.

i look forward to your next update.

oh, btw thanks to everyone who commented!!!!!

@cartoonfox: yeah my main problem is anatomy + drawing too slow....trying to work on it...:(

Wow! I really like the last painting. The lamp and the highlights on your face are great. The only thing that immediately bugs me is your thumb. I think it should be lowered a bit?

Your first fanart picture is amazing. I love your confident lines and they have a rhythm to them also.

Nice studies!. I like that your working with character interaction too. Watch your head sizes, in a few of em i see the porportions of the heads way off from the rest of the body.

Your last sketch here is really impressive nothing to complain about that one yet. Keep up the great work

hp... these are starting great!
The second loner pager's sitting figure has VERY long limbs...
I really like that last SP (but watch your thumb, it's dislocated), and the little figure on the other figure's shoulders. You nailed that pose!

Keep working and posting!

@XXXJanitorman: thanks, about the thumb, i realized what is wrong....i think i am more flexible in my fingers than most people...i'll fix it though b/c everyone else will think it's wrong :tihi:

@Kresh: yeah....working on anatomy.

@glikster: ditto from what i wrote for kresh and xxx >.< i think the figure who's sitting on the other's shoulders - you're talking about my bleach sketch? - anyways yeah that sketch gave me a hard time. i originally was gonna color it and finish it for an xmas contest but the colors on my monitor are REALLY skewed. i have to use my roommate's comp to color anything now...although i just got a 2100 paycheck...maybe i'll buy me a new comp :teeth:

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2366/shirayuki0qt.jpg - this one is fantastic. Really clean line and dynamic pose.
I think that this one http://img464.imageshack.us/img464/2209/card45wm.jpg contrast although the last one looks good.

thought those sketches looked like Renji from bleach! lol great work you've got, really like the anatomy studies you've got, and your fanart based on those studies is a really cool way to go about them. Beautiful paintings, wish I could paint like that :P Amazing that you spend 8 hours a day btw, that's admirable/inspirational lol. Bugger.

Good work there girl! Good to have you in our team!!!! :D

I donīt know what to say, your work seems pretty nice to me. You donīt have big issues with anatomy, your lines are firm and solid and your colorwork seems to be pretty much in schedule. Daamn. I just have to asspat a bit. *pat pat*

Even though you have nice sketches and so on, there isnīt much finished pieces. And since you CAN make colored pictures, why dontcha take one of those nice sketches you have and color them?!? Please... Would like to see more. You self-portrait has really good values and a nice mood in it, some refinining with the texture would make it better, in other words you can see the brushstrokes a bit too clearly for my taste in some bits (but this is totally a factor of liking some style or not). It makes it look a bit too ruggady for example on the cheek and the armpit...

But you are on a good track! I canīt say much more now so I will just shut the hell up, mīkay...

:D

oi hpslashluvr,

have to agree with Hiipi, more finished coloured works would kick arse.

and have to say... enjoying the diversity in ssg13 atm. It's 10:30 friday night for me atm, just got back to work, and unfortunately have to head to office again tomorrow (no OT).... but definitely inspired to doodle the weekend away after looking through all the threads.

@darktwin: thanks!

@glikster: you know, about drawing from memory...i remember you doing that with your latest "back" sketch. if you see my first post, the page of noses is me trying to draw from memory >.< like i'd draw it once or twice from a photo, then cover them up and draw a few more sketches of it over again from memory. it doesn't really work THAT well unless i keep doing it i guess...:teeth:

@hiipi: thanks for the asspat  haha jk, you should be meaner to me! about the selfportrait, it was "rugged" cuz i didn't have time to finish. it was due really soon and i basically whipped out a piece of crap painting. ^^ i can see where the jawline/cheek and the arm needs to be smoothed out, definitely. about finished pieces....not to make you angry but i have never, ever finished a piece in my entire life.

@machzero: ditto about finished pieces, read above :tihi:

I don't know if any of you are going to do this, but I'm going to try to have a "theme" each week of something I need to work on. We don't all have to have a similar theme and you don't have to draw specifically towards this theme for every sketch but you have to promise yourself to at least do one page of studies for it during the week. Too often we tell ourselves that we are going to do studies of something we suck at but we don't.

So until next friday, my theme is...dun dun duhhhh...HANDS!. I used to be really good at drawing hands and loved it but now it's more of a chore.

Impressive art you got there. The heads you draw seem to be at pretty difficult angles to draw from. And yet they are very well done(work a little on the chin though). For the rest there is little I can comment on right now, but I realy like the painting you did and I'm looking forward to see you improving. Oh I just noticed that the thumb in your selfportret is not properly attached to the rest of the hand. Its coming from behind your fingers with an imposible angle...

Great ps stuff. Love the line work. Did u do ur sp on the paper then worked on it, in the ps? or did u do the outline in ps too?
Cause the sp looks like its been taken by camera. cause of the orangi shade it has. but if its not. Its way damn too awesum.

sorry i havent had access to my comp so i couldn't upload anything...um, it's not much but here is what i have - i drew a rough sketch for the cotw but never got around to fixing it and coloring it for the actual submission...thinking i might actually finish this piece though. basically his imaginary elf char is "guiding" him through the game (it's a bad scan but she's pointing) :teeth:
http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/4204/img0019sx.jpg

@Sepulverture: thanks, i think i commented in yours.

@cartoonfox: ummmm i think that your anatomy work is better than mine >.< but i suppose i will accept an asspat from you :bashful: if you're talking about the bleach fanart sketches, those are digital but i originally was going to make the whole piece look like a pencil drawing.

@evildisco: thanks...yeah...my anatomy proportions are horrible. :tihi:

@Onir: for the head sketches, those are referenced (mostly loosely) from the first girl's (haha, and most of my sketches ended up being guys) photos in "facial expressions". it's a GREAT photo book that i got to help me work with drawing more exciting emotions and also to help my anatomy work.

@Zhengpeng: thanks, i tried to get unusual head poses to get the chars in the overall sketch to look more interactive and fun. about the thumb...yeah...my thumb does that. i tried to fix it but i guess i still need to lower it some.

@HEROIC: i thought i mentioned it being from a photo b/c i had to do it really quick before class (i've been sick and couldn't do it from observation like i wanted to...in my last sketchbook thread you can see a sp i did from observation)...but after posting on a few forums i guess i forgot to add that. here is the FUGLY ref pic i used :$ i wish i could say i got all prettified for it but i basically woke up and drew it ^^ AND you can see my thumbs DO do that weird broken look thingy...>.<

http://www.filelodge.com/files/room11/269334/artref%21.jpg

@Farvus: thanks, yeah, i had to draw them quite a few times before i liked what i saw. about the arm in my sp...agreed. if i had more time i'm sure i woulda worked on it.

@Master 25 Days: I shoulda pushed the contrast but I was afraid it would look too much like I worked from a photo if I did it too much.

@glikster: haha, you copied my post with the uzi!!! lately i haven't done enough anatomy practices...*sniffs*

um...sketched out a quick idea for the new cotw...remake of the famous "venus" painting. i know her legs are weird and her boobs should be stuck together if they're bound like that. and i dunno why sakura blossoms are falling or why she has a riding crop. i'll try to think of something to put there instead later.

@Zord: thanks! for some reason i've been going more into traditional work than digital lately, which i guess is a good thing.

@glikster: haha it's cool. i tried to keep the hair draped the same way as the original painting.

@Onir: lol yeah i was going to draw a huge ass gun but then realized her hand was already closed, so then i thought about drawing a sword...and settled on a stick that turned into a riding crop ^^

@Sepulverture: nooooo i'm not complaining! i just comment on random ppl's sketchbooks and i don't always remember if i got around to everyone that day.

@Farvus: yeah, i dunno why i went muted on this piece...usually i try to use pretty bold colors. i think it's cuz of the digital watercolors that i talk about below.

not sure if i like this better. i thought i did but now i think it's too centered. for some reason a while ago i went through a self-portrait-foxgirl phase where i added hair-ears and a tail to everything...i thought i'd do it here. ^^

veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy basic coloring. for some reason i've been playing with digital watercolors but i'm pretty sure i'll go back to oils for that "oomph" in color.

hpslashluvr, haven't seen the bleach series though, TVs been unused for awhile. Friend was raving about it so decided to browse through the books.

It'll be freaky if you combine all your elements. Foxgirl ears/tails, the riding crop, and the cherry blossoms... heheh.

wow alot different on this new one; I agree that it does seem centered, but I kinda like the pose you seem to wanna use; both seem to be in a lounging relaxed manner. I do think this one has more natural looking legs though, the other one's legs seemed really spread apart. cool stuff though, nice on the digital watercolor; with the pencil sketch (which looks like it's done on paper) and the watercolor painting could have easily fooled me into thinking it was done traditionally hehe.

Heya, Long time, Been buzy with portfolio stuff and skool dang -__-
ur cotw is looking good. Ya That riding crop, doesnt really match her >___> but neways, i like the 2nd one, and i like it that when u scan u wont clean up the shades, ull live it to be there and then do light colours on top of it, which makes it look great. if u could just work more with ur colour that it wouldnt look flat, then it would definitely look awsum, its a great concept by the way, ill keep that im mind.

its not time consuming, just couple brushes for the light parts, and couple brushes for some dark areas, no deitals, cause thats what makes it look nice.

THat last sketch (http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/7523/emily8am.jpg) looks great. i like her pelvis and legs. u could work more on the hands plz -___-#

I should keep in mind, ASAP when i got to montreal, ill buy an awsum glue, and glue my hand to urs, so 1st u wont get lost, 2nd i wont lose u :^^:

@machzero: haha i think there is a point where you cross from random objects in your painting being cool, and random objects just being random. ^^

@Onir: yeah, eventually when i'm good enough i wanna do gallery showings...maybe be a pioneer of like digital work in galleries (i know there is some but most of it is abstract or fixing paintings in PS)...so i'm really interested in a digital-yet-traditional-looking style.

@panda: yeah, anatomy....bleh. i'm still working on it...i'm not saying how old i am, until maybe the workshop >.< it's a mystery...:^^:

@Farvus: yeah i mean to do a hella lot of feet/hand studies cuz i always skimp out on them in my drawings.

@HEROIC: yeah the hands....read my post to farvus.

I should keep in mind, ASAP when i got to montreal, ill buy an awsum glue, and glue my hand to urs, so 1st u wont get lost, 2nd i wont lose u

and i'll bring a large 'lectric saw, so i can make sure this doesn't happen. :teeth: i'm pretty sure that i'll end up "stalking" someone anyways so that i know where to go cuz i get lost easily...

yo hpslashluvr,

don't say you can't draw "anime-style"... just not "stereotypical anime-style". heheh. Most of the JP artists I like don't do standard big eyes either.

tried the good 'ol horizontal flipping method yet? The mid of the eyebrows aren't lining up with the nose, upper lip, and mouth.

@machzero: well normally i'm not trying to do anime, but everyone in the card proj seems to be doing that (i mean, bleach IS an anime)...i realized the facial features are quite off so that'll be fixed in the final.

@Joshawowo: thanks!

@glikster: i have a really bad scanner/camera, or else they'd be cleaner ^^

@Farvus: yeah....i worry sometimes about using my face cuz it's not "traditional" but oh well :teeth:

@Onir: well usually if i bother to use a mirror i'd like it to look like me...^^ the project is something between some ppl i know...so i guess personal.

@sith: thanks, someday i'll finish it...>.<

So...I showed my teacher some of my digital WIPs, and he told me to print them out really large and throw red paint at it. :needle: Oh! and finally I went to a local sketchgroup, it was pretty fun.

some more sp work and a tdome concept and start of painting (it has to be traditional). the topic is machine like character...don't worry it will have a lot more "machinery" to it, i have to wait for the base layer to dry first. i need to fix a lot of anatomy errors too but it's late...either way i haven't painted in SOOO LONG...i think it's gonna be some crazy hi-tech squirrel-girl XD

your latest stuff, I dunno, it seems really flat. A lot of the characters (including the painting of the blue girl) remind me of the main guy from Ong Bak. (movie about muay thai)

I'm not sure if that's what you were aiming for, but I'd definitely be wary of trying to work that into a personal style.

hp
March 1st, 2006, 10:13 PM
wow, i'm definitely trying to keep my chars from looking flat, except when i just do the lineart. :(

anyhoo...a lot of ppl liked this sketch i did of hatori from fruits basket a long long time ago...SO INSTEAD OF BLEACH FANART I PRESENT A FANART OF ONE OF THE ONLY OTHER ANIMES I KNOW! >.<

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/3699/fruitsbasket8fo.jpg

so I did a quick painting (will tone down the glow...i painted it on my computer and my monitor didn't look so bright, now on my roommate's i can see the difference) of the scene from fruits basket where hatori erases the memory of him and kana falling in love *sniffs* (the sketch of his face above was supposed to be from this scene)

it is pretty close to the original but i want it to look realistic instead of anime-style.

Ciao bella!

Looks good! I especially appreciate that you´ve changed their pose juuuuuust a bit, to make them more realistic actually. I like that their weight is leaning towards us, they are much more in a 3D enviroment this way than the original way. The fact you pulled it off this nicely shows that you have a good nose on anatomical things but I thinks you have to practise your rendering a bit more. They look a bit slobby, soft brushes used on the characters and yet the grid in the window is as sharp as George W. is not.

But do more and more and I will come every now an dthen pat you on the butt. :D

some really gay looking sailor poses i was trying to draw...:( (and apparently decided to make gayer by added curly horns and smiley faces)

some slightly better drawings of those poses...both were meant to be guys but i ended up making the left one a girl.

a little drawing done on the plane with my brother, whom i reminisced with about our wolverine drawing days (you can tell which ones are his i hope)
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4523/scan00038td.jpg

a drawing meant to be done for the teen t-dome challenge...unfortunately i was on vacation or busy so i didn't get to do it, but i drew this today at work. um...it's supposed to be like one of those round bots that have spider legs, they can roll around but also open up hatches with weapons. the inside control panel/seat can come up or stay down depending on the person controlling. the thing she's leaning on is a control panel that's transparent. i know the anatomy is shitty but :( i'll take a ref pic

edit: i want her to be a little squat and a tad on the heavier side, i dunno, i love that "wake up, baby" painting and the girl in there is an obvious inspiration - not skinny, looks feminine but can punch your lights out prolly. btw these poses are ref'ed from an illustrator's ref photo book i got...i have like 20 photo books now...

otherwise the only thing i have to say is that (i know this is going to sound kind of anal) your paper gets a little dirty when you draw. It's probably from your hand accidentally smudging the drawing when you start to draw in a new spot. Try setting a piece of paper under your hand.

I suppose, that was kind of unnecessary (omg, how do you spell that?)- i just needed something to write. Anyway, keep up the good work.

forgot to say thanks for taking the effort for the paintovers you did on my thread.

Also, I dig "those round bots that have spider legs". Was planning to do a take on that design one of these days too.

btw, is the paper actually dirty? or is it the scanner overcompensating for the faint lead marks? Used to have the same issue too. In the end, switched the scanner to the high res colour mode, even to scan pencil work. Results were a lot better.

Howdy. I like the halfpainted version of your (jack of diamonds?) bleach card project thing. You seem to have a great sense of light, and your faces are very expressive. But something about the way you painted his skin makes it look unrealistic, not very skin-like. I also really like the picture you painted up showing the guy erasing the girls memory. you said that you felt like you needed to tone down the glow coming from behind them, but I think it looks pretty cool like that, just clean up those shadows under the characters maybe (i'm sure you already knew that one though). Anyway, cool stuff, keep it comin', eh?

hp

@glikster: not much, just a title prolly will be added. i'm going to try to put a lot of mood into the lighting though....unfortunately these will prolly be b/w cuz my monitor still sucks at color.

@panda: i might add a little sepia/yellowy cast on the pic but that'll be it, it's gonna be monotone.

@Sepulverture: yeah, the face is also too broad and pouty, i gotta rework that. i will try to finish that FB painting sometime later this month...*sigh*

here isn't much of an update, just more piratey looking costumes.

I don't mean changing the background at all - I just mean you could sepiatone the edges or toss in some shadows of other people or something - making it look a little more crowded would help a lot.

Sorry for not leaving any comment for a long time.
Let me start from the beggining.
March 16 - What a coincidence. I recently rediscovered pen tool in Painter too. It's twice better than any PS brush simulating ink. I dig the self portrait with angel and devil giving suggestions :).
March 18th - I think the poses have some balace problems. The hands with simplified contours caught my eye. Something I should practice too.
March 22th - Fantastic control over tones. I think you're quicky improving in this. As for the posters. I like first one. Nice composition.
Design of machine thingy looks great.
March 23 and 24 - I'm especially impressed by those last updates. I mean charcoal sketches and the poster. Good job.

gah you're ridiculously good when it comes to rendering stuff haha, looks great! the costumes came out great, and I really like the way you did the faces. I agree with panda on the sepia in the background, might help make it pop a bit more. either way good stuff, keep it up!

@glikster: thanks.

@panda: yeah i was going to give it that burnt/worn look to the edges, i just didn't have time.

@Farvus: thanks for the feedback :teeth:

@~Faust~: I'd rather have crits than asspats, but whatever ^^

@Onir: thanks, read above.

@machzero: yay page 3 indeed! i still feel like i don't have anything crucial to post each time though, almost like i'm spamming my own thread :( anyways, i have to redesign the whole poster, so that's it for that one design.

i thought the soft brush & laying down lighting method worked relatively fast (by my standards) and well, so I'm trying that again. I'm using a photo that I printed out as reference, but the lighting was a little weird so that's throwing me off. I think I might use this piece as a metaphor for my work process in a competition, but i'll have to draw in the rest of the bg and the ball for you to understand ^^

the shirt is giving me a headache...:(

woops... just reread what you mentioned to Faust and Onir...

sorry about that...
ok...
why'd you stop the leg at the chair? wouldn't it be easier and more likely to be cohesive if you did her all together instead of piecemeal?

hey hp, gotcha loud and clear; more crits and less asspats. I'll try to do that from now on hehe ;) nice update though, I like the way you're rendering this out, and yea as has been said your attention to light is great.. only thing I'm a bit confused with is the eyes. I can definitely see them as blacked out and aimed towards me now, however the marks under her eyes made me think she had her eyes closed at first. not a huge detail, yea, just maybe lighten the shadow over her eyes a little (if that's possible) to help the eyes stand out a bit more. hope that helped a bit

March 29th, 2006, 10:50 PM
@onir, actually i was pointing you to the comment i made to panda about the sepia tone....but that's cool too ^^ (haha even glikster sharpened up) i always like critiques, the more honest&harsh the better.

@spicy meatballs: thanks, I'm having trouble with lighting issues of the shadow of the chair onto the leg. So far there are two light sources, one strong one from the left and one slightly less strong one from the right, making the center look the darkest. Not sure if this works well...

@glikster: i didn't finish the leg cuz i'm having lighting probs mentioned above ^^

Anyways this is my concept sketch, to explain what the whole picture will look like. On the top left is the whole idea. Basically in each circle will be a step in my work process, so 1 would be the thinking, 2 the sketch, 3 the coloring etc. It should look like it is dripping down to the final finished product in the last circle. This is like an idea - it starts out really broad and then as you go along you get tighter and tighter (or smaller and smaller circles, i guess) until you have that idea rendered out into a clear visual product.

On the top will be "me" with a lot of things in my room that unconsciously influence me while I work (graphic novels, photos, postcards, wall scrolls). I don't know why, but I've been thinking about chinese zodiacs and fox demons recently, so I added a fox chasing a rabbit and the rest of the animals (they're the little white blobs in the sketch on the top left). I wanted to illustrate like how sometimes you're assigned to draw X, but really you have this idea of drawing Y, and the whole time you're thinking about how much you'd rather draw Y - I think unconsciously idea Y will show up in assignment X anyways because it's just hanging over your head.

whoa very nice idea behind that; always great to see something like this imo. I really like that dripping down idea as well, cool to see what people describe their thought process as. can't really crit anything honestly haha, seems like you definitely know what you're aiming to do in this piece.

haha yea didn't realize you were actually aiming towards what you said to panda; fine by me though, I need to learn how to crit better ;)

March 30th, 2006, 12:25 AM
Hey HP, if you don't mind me throwing in my two cents, I think part of the lighting issue might step from the fact that the lower legs as they currently stand, the feet in particular, seem to read at an impossible side-on angle. You've done a great job at making the thighs appear to advance through foreshortening and shadow, but I feel like the line work might be subconsciously suggesting a difficult if not impossible three-dimensional form to describe naturally through light. You might also be able to pull a little of the hot white highlight out of the t-shirt below the chair back, as the figure's posture indicates that this area from the center out would lie in increasing shadow. The thighs and upper body look great, though, and conceptually the idea is a lot of fun :-)

March 30th, 2006, 03:06 AM
yo hpslashluvr, got to agree with some of the previous posts here... you got some cankle action going on. But since you mention you're working off reference photographs, is it just the lighting (which you said you have issues with) that's flattening them out?

You also checking the values? It's very "contrasty" on my laptop and my home monitor, but on the super-crap(tm) office monitor, everything's mostly BLACK.

BTW, you completely "done" with the siren's poster? Throwing ideas around my head at taking a crack at it.

@idiomatic: thanks for the help, i'll try to fix the legs.

@machzero: yeah my comp monitor sucks and isn't accurate, i'll try lowering the contrast. nope, not done with poster. i'm gonna need a new idea with the sirens being the main focus.

@glikster: nope! never read it!

@veseljak: thanks!

ok....going to make a WIP thread prolly for this but...SORRY FOR LONG POST!

i'm not sure if they will refund my money that i paid but apparently the top 10 winners of the tdome for the girls will get tuition paid at the workshop.

topic: illustrate a song of your choice.

my ideas are based on two songs (sorry for bad translations!!! from chinese to english):
Love before AD (top left image, basically a guy watching a girl touching a black stone carving in a crowd of people, and the reflection is of himself touching her back):
The ancient King of Babylon passed the Hammurabi code of laws
It was carved on black diorite 3700 years ago
You stand before the display, looking intently at the carvings
I stand aside, quietly admiring your face, which I deeply adore
Offerings, alter, war, bow & arrow, whose past do they belong to?
I love how you belong only to me in the midst of this crowd
We pass the Sumerian Goddess
And I wish in the name of the Goddess
My missing goes on like the Tigris River
When what is left of the Ancient Civilization is but an illegible language
The myth becomes a never-ending poem
My love for you has been written before this Century
And it has been buried in the flatlands of Mesopotamia
Uncovered after many centuries
We find the wordings to be still clear & intelligible
My love for you has been written before this century
And it has been buried in the flatlands of Mesopotamia
The promise of forever carved in cuneiform
The promise that has been eroded for thousands of years, will be re-enacted now
I feel exhausted, I am far away from home
I am afraid that I will never be by your side again
Love Before the Century
Love Before the Century

Tornado (a girl is caught in a whirlwind/tornado, her feet are in a whirlpool and a "ghost" of her love is being torn from her)
Love is like a gust of wind; it blows, and then goes away
This kind of rhythm would leave anyone helpless
Without you, my soul goes out of control
The black clouds have descended, they pull me away
Quietly, stealthily, silently leaving
Teetering on the brink of danger
My world is already in a violent storm
ooh~~ Love comes too quickly just like a tornado
Can't escape the whirlwind, can't escape in time
I cannot think again, I cannot think again
I cannot, I cannot, I cannot
Love passes too quickly, just like a tornado
I cannot bear it, I already have no place to hide
I don't want to think anymore, I don't want to think anymore
I don't, I don't, I don't want to think of you anymore
Unconsciously, you have already left me
Unconsciously, I have followed this rhythm
After becoming aware, another autumn has passed
After becoming aware, I should live a good life
Unconsciously, you have already left me

cool thunderdome idea, and nice song choices; the one with the girl putting her hand on the wall sounds pretty powerful, I'd imagine the song to be rather sad. I really like the sketch you did for the second one, both people look really good in it. nice way you did teh hair and the wind, makes a nice effect; the left arm on the lower girl looks a little strange though. and nice loomis stuff hehe, gotta love loomis. keep it up! :teeth:

@onir: thanks, i don't really expect ppl to read the lyrics but yeah the songs are pretty good. both are pretty famous..."Tornado" however is one of the most famous taiwanese songs...anyone will recognize it.

here are the videos in case anyone wants to hear them....they're really cheesy as both videos and songs ^^ (edit: actually now that i've seen the tornado video...that's a really stupid video lol)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8cF0StK1EjU&search=tornado%20jay%20chou

i did another sketch but i don't know if i like the idea of the ghosts of the lovers being pulled apart into the black clouds. either way the figures will follow the form of the tornado (to be added). her feet will be dangling in a whirlpool with dangerous waves and maybe some sharp rocks around her...lots of foam prolly.

Ciao bella!

Damn I wich I had more time on my hands to at least buff up my SSG-partners. At the moment I am the silent partner :D but maybe I will have more time in the future.

I really dig how well you are able to render things when you put your mind to it, that pic with the girl (you?) sitting on a chair looks damn nice! Would love to see it finished! There was some good points on it though, the shadows are way dark and it is a bit contrasty but as a whole, pretty nice start! My advice on it would be to pay attention to the shading... It seems to be a bit exxagerated in places. The left foot sneaker is BRILLIANT because of its subtleness. The skin and the shirt are a bit messy because there isn´t such a determination on the strokes - everything is a bit too blurry. Shadows are often pretty sharp edged and if all is a blur it looks dirty and messy.

Take what you have on the sneaker and you´ll have yourself a masterpiece!

Til later, pat pat pat!

You said these were self portraits http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/2634/sketchbook5to.jpg, is the one on the upper left also you? Humunuhhumunuhhumunah. I really like the simplicity of the face in the middle, leaving the face free of rendering gives it a soft youthful quality. The eyes pop because they contrast with the white of the paper. Use of line is nicely varied, soft and lost around the jaw and ears, hardly perceptible along the hair line which gives it a weightless quality. Line is also nicely used on the edge of the face, a dark line seperating the head from the background gives solidity. I don't like the other two as much, the scribbly hair has an unnatural texture and appears heavy, note how outlining the hair seperates it from the bakground and makes appear as a solid form, too much rendering within the face, and the line isn't varied. This one's nice too http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/5912/sailor8sp.jpg. I always like those skinny panels, the path of the eye is limited and easily follows a vertical line which gives a sense of importance. The linear rhythm is simple and attractive, lines of the arms and legs seem to curve from a common point which gives unity. Notice the parallel lines and flowing lines. Something's missing from the upper left hand corner though, I think. The reason I'm saying this is because you're drawings are inconsistant, you've got talent but I don't think you know why some pictures work and others don't. An artist must know what they like, why they like it and the effect it has. "The Practice and Science of Drawing" has useful ideas, and there's a link for it on the wiki somewhere.

@glikster: I think I'm going to cut out a lot of the space and make it a lot tighter, probably the guy will only have his head/arms shown.

@Farvus: loomis is fun....but it gets tiring >.<

@Onir: thanks!

@machzero: I have a book of photography references of girls in motion, hopefully i'm just going to "cut and paste" certain elements of different photographs. where do you live??? jay chou is definitely not played in Texas :teeth:

@Hiipi: no patting! *looks offended* :P you know it's funny, I'm apparently going to get a teacher for my 3d design and life drawing class next fall that is HORRIBLY blunt...like he tells kids their work is complete shit and to trash it...that will be a interesting change :confident
the contrast is due to the monitor problem I've been complaining about and been meaning to fix for like half a yr now. After I paid for the CA workshop, I had no money left *sniffs* that's why I'm going to try to do this....maybe get a refund...:teeth:

@1-thought: thanks!

@Heart_x_Slayer: thanks, artpad is something I do at work when I'm bored. I think the one you are talking about though, I used a tablet with.

@armando: lol NO, I think it was the pregnant section of my photography book...the girls were pretty busty. The self portrait I did in pen on that page is really scribbly because I did it in the dark, I couldn't really see my page at all. I agree with the inconsistancy....especially between realism and styli...ism - I think after doing a lot of photo studies I feel like I need to take a reference picture for everything.

@Master 25 Days: my sn has NOTHING to do with GG lol, I've never even played it. I am not familiar with any asian bands or songs, I went to Taiwan this summer for a little over a month - basically I went to a music store and took random CDs off the shelf.

I'll post two versions, one is the normal one and one I turned the contrast down so you can see better if your monitor is different from mine. Not that much done....Painter crashed the first time I worked on it and I lost the will to redo everything I had just done. And then it crashed like 10 times last night. :( I know the shadows on the legs are wrong, I need to try to think about how to do them.

your painting is coming along very nicely. look forward to the finished product. one crit, the feet are shown in almost complete profile...being that your legs are resting on the globe the lower leg would be forshortened and the feet would be turned more toward a frontal view with a bit of the bottoms of the feet showing.

nice sense of light and value, very dramatic.

hey hp, nice wips so far; personally I like first one better (I'd assume that's the one with higher contrast), darks are darker and such (which makes sense I guess). Your lighting seems to be omnipresent in a way and it kinda looks like there are multiple light sources (one to her left, and one to her right.. maybe one from above as well).. not sure if that was what you were going for. looks good over all though; nothing I can really crit on as you already seem to be pointing alot of things out yourself. good luck :teeth:

I quite like the rough masses of tone in the lineless painting... after you get that stage done you can render it neatly...

@Onir: thanks, yeah the dark one was just to show what kind of feeling i wanted in the end.

@machzero: hehe...GET ADDICTED TO NARUTO! DO IT! it's easier if you watch the anime. although i admit i haven't watched it or any other show in a long long time.

@Spade: i'm trying to finish a piece yeah...i never can seem to usually cuz i lose interest after Painter crashes a billion times. I think the new version will save before a crash though, according to Rick, a Corel guy I talked to at the workshop. DL the update! (painter IX.5)

@glikster: yeah i'm trying to see if i like this method better. so far...no...at least on chars...

So yeah the workshop was fucking awesome. That doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm still experiencing it in my head right now...anyways for anyone who has any doubts...or even no money, I would sell my house/children if i had any to go to the next workshop :yayca:

hey, the sketchbook is looking nice. Those drawings you got from the workshop are sweet. Nice progress through this thread. I"d like to see the girl in chair pic and the tornadoe one finished. Those were two cool ideas that should find completion. I'm going to second Farvus' suggestion way back there about the values on the right shoe. It pops right out of the picture. Needs less contrast to push it back a bit.

Nice meeting you this last week. Keep it up.

SOOOO...I got my laptop and a new comp!!!! YAY!!!! I did some stuff at work yesterday when I was bored. I'm doing the 50 heads in 1 month workshop over at cgtalk - (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?threadid=375031)...and gonna hopefully finish the tdome and CHOW piece. I restarted the CHOW piece but it looks like crap compared to the original :( for those of you who don't know...MY COMP FUCKING CORRUPTED ALL MY FILES when it decided to freeze even though I had saved a lot. It was perfect and almost done!!!! ::cries::

just some lighting ideas....i was thinking either outdoors with a canopy net casting shadows (think renoir's moulin galette) or in the shade of a hot day with "blinds" type lighting (in which case i'll tone down the yellow-yness of the skin)...anyways this is going to be studies of the refs:

Heya hp! Good to see your Sketchbook over here. I am admittedly poor about checking Sketchbooks, there are so many!!! I hope you gave Martin / erilaz hell in Montreal. ;) Great to see you in the 50 Portraits Workshop (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=375031), you actually don't have to feel compelled to create finished / rendered images for each portrait ~ they can be sketches as well. :) But your first is coming along well, I know you've got lots of talent ~ but damn I want to see more finished pieces! :D

Hope to see an abundance of Portraits, w00t! :)

more CHOW work...will take a photo ref for the hands.
http://img304.imageshack.us/img304/2940/preview9nc.jpg

what color scheme do you like best? ...originally I wanted it to be outdoors but now I'm thinking, why would she sit outdoors...probably she would be in the shade. Another possibility is she would be in prison for helping her son kill himself (in the CHOW topic the son wants to kill himself)? Either way I'm thinking some kind of shade is the way to go. I experimented with the way the light would come in...maybe a door open a lot, or broken boards (blinds), or the door open just a little bit.
http://img473.imageshack.us/img473/2039/choices0nr.jpg

some sketches that I did a while ago for that pinup (look at first post):
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/2899/pinuptogether21oe.jpg
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/60/pinuptogether36lm.jpg

And...you ever feel like you haven't improved at all? I certainly feel that way looking through my work...but then I went back and looked through my cgtalk thread http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=219677&page=2&pp=20 and i thought...hmmm I guess I have gotten a LITTLE bit better...>.<

I decided to compile a few images that show my progression (from two yrs ago till about last summer I think...I wish I could find the stuff that I drew a little before that...it was "good" but pretty bad by CA standards)
After a break in drawing, getting back into it:
http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/4407/dancerhorse6as.jpg

All the stuff I was proud of...starting with two yrs ago, but not necessarily in order (but mostly). The top two are sketchbook covers (I thought the quote was clever..."the pursuit of art is like falconry" - Garcia Marquez). The Bush drawing/painting was what I drew the first day I got my tablet. I really wish I could find the portfolio cover I made with a mermaid...it was probably 4 feet long and the scales were painstakingly cut and glued from pieces of shiny wrapping paper ^^
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8096/17cg1.jpg

A lot of sketches I used to be proud of. The one with the arrows you can see that I used to draw myself a lot differently. A lot of "wizard of earthsea" fanart for my AP portfolio :)
http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/1395/21ri1.jpg

Obviously heavily ref'ed pics...and a HUGE dependence on the Painter pen tool and lineart. The "art and soul" pic was a self portrait i drew on a sketchbook cover - as a side note...cheap 50 cent acrylics make good washes ^^ More wizard of earthsea art for AP.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/1295/32fu.jpg

Ugh....so bad....some 3d work too that I never finished in 3dsmax. That self portrait with me painting myself is completely from observation. And that's why I never finished it ^^ So is the other self portrait to the left of it. And the bottom right piece has been redone and is linked in my sig under "la belle dame." The bottom left is the most recent - it was a coloring from Bleach done for a contest. I won second!

If those heads were done in 3DS, they're pretty damn good. They're lacking the "tubesock" look i've seen in the past.

50 heads in one month? Now, that's a challange. I think I'm going to stick to my self portraits :P.
The chow looks great. As for the colour scheme - I can't decide between 4 and 6.
You improved a lot from what I see here. Especially your brush stroke economy (PS and natural media) is much better. Everything is more simplified and beacause of that more clear to read.
Oh, and I didn't know you made some 3dstudio max modelling. The faces look awesome.

great update! always love seeing the progression people have made and your's is definitely inspiring. you really have done alot of work in the last two years, really showing great improvement. as for the CHOW piece I'd say 4 or 5 personally; I like the slight door open casting the light on her, in between on the value contrast though.

50 heads in a month? geez quite the exercise haha. you really make me want to get involved in these cgtalk workshops, seems like they are definitely good practice. I really like the costume study you did 2 posts ago btw, great design to it.

hey hp, cool 3d stuff; something I'd like to get into one of these days. nice on doing a stylized approach, always good to step away from realism at times. I really like those two digital studies, the simplicity of them really helps. the crouched one especially has a really nice feel imo, great way you used your lines.

be cool to see if you redid that last one as well, see how all the work you've done recently helps to effect that.

wow so that's what you've been up to! haha very nice update; seems like you've done alot both digitally and traditionally. reaally jealous that you have a life drawing class lol, been wanting to go to another one (even if it's just one session) for such a long time.. really great work though, some nice diversity in all the life drawing things you have there. looks like you tried building up the figure a number of ways and you did alot of linework and full renderings. must say though, of all you posted, your sketchbook pieces stand out most to me. your line work in there looks really confident and your pen shading is lookin nice. I know you always appreciate any crits but honestly there's really nothing I can think to crit; you've covered everything really. keep it up is all I can say! :teeth:

Awesome update! Lot's of techniques, lot's of approaches to drawing. It's really good that you started going to life drawing class. I already see some improvement especially in shading.
I would like to think of any better crit but I'll just say: Keep doing these studies!

hey hpslashluvr~!

massive update you did... and it's a little intimidating too! Recognised some of the older ones, but are the rest post-montreal?

life drawing was something i never had a chance to take back in community college, and now with a full time job... no time/opportunity.

Hey, seen some of the post that you made in SB of one of the members in my SSG. So I decided to drop a line in your SB, and see some really good stuff in here. When you showed where you were two years ago, it really amazing how your artistic abilities develop. Your life drawing studies are amazing too, the work line and shading what really like about it them. Like everyone has said, you have very confindent lines and very deverse subject matter in your SB.

Good to hear from ya!
I really like the life drawings you got going. Ha.. it's funny that you mention how some of my sketches look very wes/marko inspired. Another friend of mine said that exact same thing. Yeah hopefully i can move away from that a find my own.

yeah they just started back having sketchgroup like a month ago. You should definitely go that would love to have you. I'm not staying in Dallas at the moment had to move back home, because i couldn't find a job.:(

@Erilaz: thanks. what woman are you talking about?

@Arne S.: yes, all my comics are always about me...usually I draw them for my bf while we're at work. But if you look in the old comics, my bf has changed. =P hahaha

@Onir: thanks...i'm starting to like pen more and more. thanks to you and other ppl in the SG...poo on you! you've converted me! =P

@glikster: i think i missed it....wish her a late LATE happy bday...you do anything for her bday? i think it will be cool to see her grow up, if you and I stay with CA that long =P

@Farvus: I don't think that any of this is going to transfer over to my real drawings :( that's the sad thing.

@Carnifex: thanks, carnifex! same back to you.

@machzero: i don't know, i guess everything is pretty much post montreal. you slacker poster, you. ^^

@crimsoneye: thanks...i try to break up the topics that i draw but they always seem the same to me >.<

@T-lapia: thanks....i wish i could too! haha

@spiffiness: you need to update more often! school or job is not an excuse! i had two jobs and full time classes! i'm not even doing art in class! haha

@dCepT: thank you!

@Unbreakable: i wouldn't worry too much about influences right now...i'm sure eventually we'll all turn into our own little wes's and marko's and influence other ppl. haha i can't wait until i have my own little cronies!!! will be a long time though...:( i want to go to the sketchgroup in dallas but i have work every sunday at the exact same time they meet BLAH. if you are still in touch with them you should tell them to give me a call. =P
----------------------------------
So....I quit one of my jobs and hoped for more time...but really with school starting again full time it's hw, hw, social life, hw, hw, hw. =P I started to draw a lot more doodles during class and have decided that it's one of my favorite things to do. I think I actually get better at drawing poses/expressions by drawing little cartoons.

Sorry for the bad quality, I took this with a camera on my lap >.<
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/492/upload1xp8.jpg

I have made like a billion of these while at work. Call it lame, call it obsessive, call it cheesy...I call it boredom.
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6117/morganei7.jpg

I watched this movie called Head On, and decided I like drawing the main girl (the one smoking).
http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/7575/upload4jr0.jpg

"annoying girl" and teacher from my storyboarding class. and sibel from Head On (from previous page). i have absolute pages and pages of cartoons of my teacher and that "annoying girl"...it's a long class.
http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/3522/upload3co8.jpg

storyboards from my class. The premise is that there is this retarded Dinosaur that looks like gobbles from south park and an asteroid chases him. The way his face works is it is just an open mouth that acts like a shovel. The animals he eats turn into music notes and the motion lines turn into a staff. The asteroid will set the pace of the music. Hopefully you got that all from the picture lmao.

http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4715/spage2zp6.jpg

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9430/upload5xw5.jpg

The drawing with the building was gonna be for "awakening of the underground giant" for cgtalk's challenge. it's based on ray bradbury's story of a city that comes to life to seek revenge...it basically guts the captain and crew and rewires them...only one guy is left and running away...he doesn't look very scared though here haha.

MORE LIFE DRAWINGS! :)
so ugly....we only were allowed to use 3 colors in some kind of color scheme...forget which one.

more color scheme practice. pretty proud of the face (although the photo skews it), i never can get likenesses but it looked just like her.

i started to use imageready during work when i got tired of making cartoons. i put together the pics i drew YRS ago for the first one, about a girl who climbs onto a railing of a bridge and turns into a penguin and jumps into the water. sort of random. second was a really cheesy thing i was going to make for my bf and set to cheesy music as a joke, but i just gave up and now it looks like something that is supposed to be serious :(

You're making good progress, just keep life drawing and you will see a major difference. Try not to get to caught up with contours though try and find the volume of the figures using shapes. I would be a good idea if you purshase some of Vilppu's instructional dvds. I think they're only 30 bucks which is very reasonable considering how much they help.

And about the sketchgroup thing they stop or a least slow down some. I think they are only going to do it once a month now.

gah, the amount of work is tremendous lol and it's all good stuff as well. firstly lemme say that I LOVE that storyboard. we've actually started animation things in my animation class (we have a stop motion piece due in about a week) so we've gone over storyboarding a bit recently. your's is nicely drawn, cleanly done, and easy to follow; can easily tell what's going on in it which is a good thing (as I'm sure you know ;) ).

The sketch page that you really liked is definitely nice, especially since it's all from your head. not sure if you intended it but the swooshy lines, the hands, and the looks on some of the faces all have a nice visual movement to them. speaking of the hands, very nice job on those; much better than any of mine lol.

lastly, the life drawings are great as usual. that blue face is beautifully rendered, kudos to ya on that one. everything else is really nice, love the simplistic pen and marker figures, as well as the ones with the wide lines of charcoal. really nothing I can crit you on; you cover everything really well. just update more often! :P great work once again

Mmm hmm! Some really nice stuff in here, great life drawings too!

On this one, http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/2315/changecolor002gg3.jpg
The erhm (pillar?) of light you have shining in, right now because it does not change shape on the vertical portion it is reading as more of a flat wall and that perhaps the girl is wallpaper or a poster you know what I mean? See, just like a contour line in your life drawings the light should follow form.

So, I think for the most part you are good - I imagine the light coming from a bit above yeah? Perhaps I might expect to see a bit of a shadow underneath the collar and other forms and the light to sort of dissipate off slowly on the rounder forms like her cheeks. And the light hitting the wall behind her I would expect to become a little larger and more diffuse perhaps.

I tried to google a reference for you but no luck, it's a bit of a unique situation which I think makes it a really strong painting. I did find this though:
http://kenpope.com/assets/animals/june4bl.jpg :)

Anyways, this doesn't really matter it can be ok to bend 'reality' I think.

@Carnifex: thanks! yarrggh to you too ^^

@Unbreakable: I actually am starting a sketchgroup at UTD once a week that is going to feed off our animation guild which sponsors life drawing and zoo trips. this is a lot easier for me since that half price is always so far and i have work during it :)

@DR_Inferno: thanks!

@Arne S.: hehe thanks! i'm glad you like my comics.

@Onir: thanks!

@glikster: hopefully with the actual animatic it'll be clearer to what's going on.

So...I started a sketchgroup!!! I got a really good response from other jaded artists at my uni, which is known mostly for com sci and EE. It's gonna be exciting...and apparently I didn't know, but our animation guild takes trips to the zoo twice a month! I know it sounds lame, but drawing at the zoo sounds neat :)

I got that water brush pen thingy a while ago that everyone uses, but didn't start it until now...I don't know how to use watercolors so yeahhhhh. They're actually watercolor pencils but whatever.

heeey always love an hp update :teeth: great work as always, glad to see you're starting up watercolor! I loove those water brushpen things, get me out and painting more; really nice values on your watercolor pics and the blending and washes you've done are looking great. biggest thing I've learned with watercolors is to be as patient with washes as you can (I also paint with lots of layers when I use watercolors); something I'm sure you've realized but doesn't hurt to say it again I guess hehe. really liking the cleanliness of your lines on the sketches, both pen and pencil. only crit I can really think to offer is along the lines of what spiffiness suggested on your heads, otherwise just keep workin at those watercolors. oh and I like the mech doodles too, nice rendering on the arms. keep at it!

Nice update. I especially dig this page - http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7209/14sw6.jpg. Is it pencil + gray brushpen beacause there are very smooth shadows. I think I might try that technique.
Maybe studying skeletal structure could help you in drawing figure. For example to draw better elbows, knee and other parts that appear more angular in body (just like spiffiness said).
Oh... and from the earlier update I really like the colour scheme practic. Nice rendering on blue face.

Great art, and funky rant Emily. You've got some damn nice tones in there, and your non-ref studies are really starting to pay off.

As to the sketchgroup, I feel your pain. Hang in there!!!:) You just have to keep at it. The frustrated lazy ones will eventually drop off and you'll have a core group that goes hard. I usually just shout "less talky more drawy!" when we've been digressing over coffee. We've got a great solid group now that gets a fair bit done.
And tell anime fan to start drawing more real people. He can get back to anime when he understands how anatomy works. Facial expressions in cartoons are all about believability, and that comes from studying how people interact and emote. The silly sod.
As to the 3CH thing, have you tried the adjective-sketch idea that Marko and Wes did at Montreal? That might get them moving, as they only have to individually think of a word each. You'd think they were trying to do rocket science.

Onir
October 12th, 2006, 07:08 PM
hey hp, nice update. you shade very nicely lol; really like that face on the first page.. not to down play the unreffed drawing of course, that came out really nicely as well. not much I can crit on em and great work since that is in fact without a ref ;) nice page of your mirrored-selfs, I like the shading on em. the jungle with the dancing vacuums is really cool in my opinion, love the lady's expression, and the whale in the tub made me laugh. really nothing to crit except maybe watch the proportions on your self portraits (which can be really hard if you're using a mirror).

sorry that the sketchgroup is kinda having a rocky time :\ I kinda know what you mean. luckily in my case the people I deal with have thicker skin when getting critiqued and actually listen to what my opinion is on a matter. now, the group of people I know is most definitely smaller than yours (in fact I'm pretty sure very few people at NU actually draw outside of class...), so that might be why I'm having a bit easier go of things. either way though, you really should just tell them thatif they want to be an artist of any type they gotta learn to listen to advice and not to get offended with crap. just my take on things of course.. I'm sure you know how to handle things ;)

that got a bit long... sorry about that. either way keep up the good work and good luck with your sketchgroup stuff.

As for the sketchgroup. I noticed lots of people like this on other forums. They seem to be more interested in cartoons than drawing. I guess it will take some time to convince them that there is no shortcut and that the foundations are necessary to gain freedom in creativity. Good luck with that
I wish there was some sketchgroup where I live. It's really hard to find people with similar interests. I mean illustration or conceptart.

@Onir: well, i was trying to "stylize" the faces into how i normally doodle, but with realistic shading.

@Unbreakable: i guess i just need to go to the zoo more =P

@spiffiness: hehe thanks. update more! no excuses! :)

@archnemesis dbal: thanks!

@Fishspawn:thanks!

@hito: hehe, never watched it, but thanks.

@Farvus: thanks! yeah it was hard to find ppl to come to the sketchgroup, although i got a lot of emails. i have like 77 members technically, but only about 8-12 are really involved.

@seb182: i always feel like my drawings are repetitive...i need to branch out.
----------------------------
i'm too lazy to scan my life drawings and my sketchbook. the good news is...I'M ALMOST DONE WITH MY SKETCHBOOK WOOOO!!!! first time ever that i felt that i had a "real" sketchbook that wasn't all like, torn out and one small doodle per page. i got a new bigger sketchbook so hopefully i will learn to draw bigger.

dunno if i ever posted these...i was trying to figure out that method of doing white on black really quickly. one is "tombs of atuan" fanart and one is me copying the prince of persia artwork. btw, i used the "flat color" pen to do these in painter.

Okay, that last one is just scary. 0_o

I think my fav in that lot is actually the one of your superhero mother. Really nice flow of the form, although something is going weird down in the lower calf/foot area.

Heh, and you're right! Nothing makes you learn something faster than being forced to teach it!:bashful:
