Hello population of Conceptart.org!
I'd like to borrow your attention for a minute,
and present an newly released project called warPaint.
I bet there's a bunch of you here who are familiar with the network feature in openCanvas1.1b.
And I also bet that a few of you have cried over a session that forked or crashed.
Not to mention it's quite hard to find new people to draw with.
But here is the solution, Project warPaint! (http://www.warpaint.se)
warPaint is an stand alone openCanvas server with improved stability and adds several
new features to openCanvas!
Not to mention that it also supports an live serverlist, so that you in theory should be
able to find people to draw with at any time of the day.
One of the major stability improvements I mentioned before is the resume feature.
It backups event history during a session.
So if your openCanvas client gets disconnected or crashes,
then simply reconnect and the server will send you with the backuped data.
This can also be used to join in the middle of a session, which means you won't have
to wait for everyone to join before you can start drawing.
The warPaint Server also brings out a few hidden features of openCanvas.
Like increased layer numbers. Depending on the number of players you can
have up to 11 layers per player compared to the standard limit of 4 layers per player.
All this talk about servers may have discouraged some of you.
Fear not, the whole package comes in a neat Installer (http://www.warpaint.se/dist/warPaint_Installer_1.35.exe) and the serverware has
a userfriendly interface for those who'd like to host their own server.
These services are of course completely free!
The software is designed to render minimal to no upkeep costs.
And it is currently distributed under a freeware license,
which probably will be changed to an opensource one in the future.
Feel free to try it out with your friends.

(please don't mind the .se, the site is english.)
I'll gladly reply to any questions or feedback.
Thanks!
