View Full Version : What's your legacy?
Steinmetz

When you die what will people remember you for?
I hope to be known in New Zealand as one of the great portrait painters of our country. When I paint with oils that's always what motivates me.
What's your claim to fame after death? It really comes down to the fact that you want to be someone or not.

haha agreed ^^ I used to talk a lot more than I actually worked. :^^:
I would like to be successful professionally of course, but I would like to be known for some sort of tutorial. There are some tutorials on the net that EVERYONE knows and follows...it'd be nice to have a basic claim to fame that also helps others on their own way to glory. I guess it sounds sort of sad, but as one of the many self-taught digital artists out there, it took a lot of work and patience...it only seems fair to give out some tips to the newbies.

hm.... one day I made a list of things I want to realise before I die:
1) publish my own comic or comic series
2) make a SF-movie
3) build a building
4) look back and be able to say:"I´ve never been afraid of accepting a challenge."
Well.... what´s life worth if you don´t have a dream? I think it´s better to try and fail than having never had the guts to do what you have to do.

One fifty year old man will remember when I smashed an icecream cone into his face when he was a little boy. When it happens I will tell him " YOU REMEMBER ME FOREVER" and I gaurentee you he will tell the story "one day when I was a boy a man ran up to me and smashed my icecream into my FACE, then he told me YOU FUCKING REMEMBER ME FOREVER" but I did not say FUCKIN he added that to make the story more interesting more dynamic... HE Deserves to have icecream smashed in and around his eyes....
if that is not ok to do than I dont know what is, that will be my legacy...
Look up Dane Cook, cause I am not that funny, your thread's title reminded me of that :D.

Im with hpslashluvr on this one, if nothing else, i'd like to be remembered for making a good tutorial that helped a lot of people. Being pretty much 100% self thaught, i have nothing but the deepest respect for those who given some of their precious time to share their knowledge with others. Without them i would know nothing about 2d/3d. (espescially not 3d!)
This is why im currently working on a thourough tutorial for zbrush, 3dstudio max and photoshop right now, to give something back to the awesome communities.

Attaining eternal life would take your whole life's worth of work to achieve, presuming you are of that genius...but if you worked for 60 years (from age 20 to 80, lets say) and finally can live forever...what do you do now? You have an eternity to do whatever you like, and the only thing you ever wanted you have. No one picks up a new hobby after that kind of thing.
That actually seems more like a curse then blessing.

Lodr Blue, attaining eternal life would take a very small fraction of my life actualy. :dur:
Also, I donīt have to pursue eternal life alone like a reclusive necromancer (tho that would be quite cool).
And the point of living forever is more out of curiosity rather than changing the world. Donīt you wanna see what other galaxies are like? Donīt you wanna know what the building block of the universe is? And what about ETs, Old Ones, God, whatever? Surely we will not know those things in the short spam of a human life.

Well, seeing how there is only so much one can squeeze into the brain, wouldn' it be more realitic to see that the longer you live, the less aware you will become of what you have lived? Its impossible to know exactly how many memories can be squeezed into a pristine brain, but we do know it has its limits. What if after 10,000 years, you forgot about what happened during years 400-600. Does this mean you, in some sense, never existed during this time?
My point being, if a human lives upwards 100 years (currently) under best conditions, how can you know the effects it will take on one who lives over 10,000+ years? It may actually be the single most tormenting feeling in existence, we are just unable to understand it since we are mortal.
But yea, my curiousity does poke me, but i doubt i could make myself "wait and see firsthand" on the spectacular changes that lie ahead.

Well, brain enhancements wouldnīt take too long. I bet that in 1000 years we can do some kind of upgrade. And forgeting the first thousand isnīt much realy. :teeth:

I think I would like to achieve a great technical ability, and use my art to make others happy- to help them somehow... then I would like to die and be remembered by friends, and when they die, be forgotten.

I remember the last M.Manson concert I went to. He pulled out his micro and pushed it into/beneath.. the hot pants of one his dancers, just like ass-fucking her life in front of the stadium. The funny thing was that when he looked down the crowd he seemed a bit confused, because none of us showed any reaction.
and now... back to the topic: As many of us are european, try harder to shock us :tihi:
