View Full Version : Self Portrait - WARNING may be shocking

Here my self portait I have done for some school project.

The purpose was to show the fact that I had a lack of confidence in me, and since a self portrait is supposed to say some things about yourself, I thought it was great to show me as dead. This way people remember only the good moments spent with me.

I know it can sound macabre but I didn't do it to shock.

It's full of expression!

I love that in pictures. The tacky approach, shaky camera, the bland greyscale. Marvelous.

However. I would probably have liked it more if it were just a tidbit sharper. Also, the shoes are wrong. I'd wanted to see black shoes, maybe like the ones you wear with a costume.

Yeah, the only thing I see a little wierd. It's just a little too blurry.

Actually I kept the blury picture because it has this "dreaming" feeling which does look great...

Nice setting. There's a glare from the window though, and the contrast is not good in the tones. Also as people have said, it's blurry. I don't think the blurriness makes the picture better.

To me, it just looks wrong. You have no sense of weight, there is no sense of tension on the noose at all. Perhaps google for some photos of actual suicides and see how the bodies hang, just heavy sacks of meat and bone.

Just my .02.

and i dont like the blurryness of the picture, its too blurry.

Everything else is good though.

Exactly !
Actually I tried to do my best ... but believe me... its not that easy to hung yourself...

As I told you I tried to tense the rope the best I could...
yet I have to agree with you... it could have been better.
Weird I haven't noticed this before... :rolleyes:

Too blurry but i like the idea, a dramatic angle would have also helped. Theres also graffeti in the top left hand corner that annoys me.

need more contrast, i like the objective view.
