ROUND #11
:right: PLEASE CONSOLIDATE YOUR WIPS AND FINALS INTO YOUR FIRST POST.
:right: CLEARLY DESIGNATE YOUR FINAL.
-------------------------
DEADLINE
SATURDAY, JANUARY 7th
9 PM PACIFIC STANDARD TIME
--------------------------
Thog the Mastadon Slayer
Thog the Mastadon Slayer is the hero of the tribe, heart throb of the ladies, built like a saber toothed tiger (and as friskey as one!), completely fearless (except for giant spiders, those just freak him out something serious), and none too bright.
Dim he may be, but underneath that cromagnon cranium, a stone wheel tirelessly turns with a single purpose: bring home the Mastadon meat, with a supersized side of Giant Ground Sloth.
Thog is not to be found anywhere without his *Club of Klunking*, provided by Thag & Sons, and sporting his spotted Stag Moose Cape and Loin Cloth (part of the Peccaries ensamble) on those cold and lonely nights during the Mastadon hunts.
Totally Styling and absolutely stoopid, Thog the Mastodon Slayer is a true hero of the Pleistocene era!

HAPPY 2006 EVERYONE!

Chuck,mate.
January 2nd, 2006, 05:59 AM
darth massacre - ladies? ho, you can see `em on Thog`s club there. well, some parts anyway.
:)
JakkaS, Define. - thanks! this one took me about 4 hours
beginig to end, and i did it last night.
i actually am an insomniac (doc` said so..) so i don`t sleep
much to answer your question.
also - here in israel it`s daytime while in other countries it`s night. so while i`m at work in the mornings i check what`s new in the threads, and at night - i draw and paint stuff. :x

thanks Azrael. there are some MAJOR talents `round here so it`s very nice hearing you say that.
about Thog here -
to tell the truth, i kinda gave up on this piece
somewhere along the way.
i wasn`t too happy with it and i got so tired i wraped it up. it doesn`t mean it`s no good (or it wasn`t posted here, i assure you..), it`s just why it looks somewhat different from my other works.

@Corrick : heh, I like it so far ... Nice light.
@masque : love the little detail ; his moose skin being held together by a fishbone.
@Chuck : as usual, I admire your speed. not a day had passed and you came up with an idea and a good solid character. they must like you where you work.

well, the checks keep coming, so....
:)
where i work deadlines are CRAZY. plus,
i just don`t like working on a piece 10,000 hours, it just
annoys me. so i do some quick sketchs, and get it to a finished level (sort of) in about 3-4 hours or so.

thanks Azrael. there are some MAJOR talents `round here
Hmm, that there is indeed. Although most of them seem to be on vacation. I recall a thread where we had around 30 entries. Sadly, that was where I pulled out some of my best work, which was squashed like a bug by the heel of some of the titans around here.
Of course a totally unrelated job that occupies sixty hours a week, the goverment demanding a whole weekend a month and a wife that demands the rest, it is tough to put the time and detail that I would like. maybe someday though. someday....

Misledtomisery :: I like the posture and gesture, but it may be a slight skew from the "built like a sabertooth tiger" and the "hero of the tribe, heart throb of the ladies" that the discription calls for. But then again, who knows what the mastadonians ladies are into.
Rawwad :: nice detail, but seems a little flat. maybe some background to brighten?
Masque :: Interesting piece from you. Nice detail and good mood.

I know that Neanderthals where savage…and primitive, but I thought about a character that have respect for Mammoths. Why? Maybe because they give him furs, meat, bones and finally...chance to survive. That’s why my Thog don’t looks like salivated wild dog…
I hope you will like it.
Cheers!

My FINAL and DETAILS. [Oregano if you want, take these both to the poll]

I'm in the middle of studying for my exams which start next monday, but I grew tired of reading and calculating and ...
Well I guess I just had to draw something. I was doodling on a sheet of paper and decided to give it a little ink. There's a lot of mistakes here, and sure a lot could've been better done (like the shading, the hands, and so on) but I really don't have the time for a retake.
Take this to the poll, that'll be a laugh .

maybe it's just me, but i'm a bit surprised how many seem to have taken the brief so seriously!
i mean, with "frisky," "supersized side of ... Sloth," "Club of Klunking," coordinated "Thang & sons" attire from the "Peccaries ensemble", and "Totally Styling and absolutely stoopid" in there, i couldn't help but chuckle.
ah, well, guess i was in a somewhat frisky mood meself.
good stuff showin' so far!
artdwx, that's schweet! great control on the aquarelles!

Hey everyone - I have a confession to make. I just bought a gouache set and I friggin' love it. So I did this week's CHOW in gouache... hope you enjoy. I have a few pics.

That is my FINAL, which you can take to poll. Although I am wondering if I should paint a background in there digitally or not. I also forgot his cape so who knows... I may NOT be done :P
(edit) I added a quick background to establish those blues in his skin tone. Anyways, these Thogs look great, this will be tough to vote on... hrmmmmm

Okay, thread is closed for this evening. I will have the voting and new round up shortly.
Also, on a side note, I am leaving for California for a couple of weeks bright and oily tomorrow morning. So, if I screw something up with the voting, I apologize in advance, as I will not be able to get to it for a couple of days. My laptop is going with me, so I *will* be able to fix it, whatever "it" may be, but not right away.
As always, if I get your image and it's not the final, just overwrite the one that I grabbed. I'll try to catch anything this evening, but I will be a tad limited.
Cheers to everyone. Thog would be proud!
