Yea! Very clean linework, but one thing i saw right away was the first drawing; her pants even though shaded, seems VERY flat.

Hey, I used to hang out in Ann Arbor! Cool sketches, your chicks seem to have the same mouth:p With the exception of the vibrator one. You also seem to like to hide ankles. Good stuff though, stop by Pinball Petes for me:)

wow maxx m these are great! I have seen some of these drawings before maybe shane's site.:) I like your style, the way you draw the female bod:p, one critique the drawing of the girl on the sofa, her arms look deformed, really thin. maybe finish the sofa to make it clear, also i think someone said something about the shading. anyway good job, looking forward to more.

Hahaha, that's strange. Yeah I love In and out, though never had a doubledouble animal style. I go to ebisu also, to get some tea flavored candy at the suupa.

Hmm, the Ulala chick rocks, though still no ankles!

wow, these are really great.
I especially like the first and second drawing.
really great facial expressions. very inspiring. :chug:

It seems though that the girl's right arm on
the second image is a bit off, I suspect its
the shading of the arm.

hey Maxx M.

great work, but something puzzels me, how come for exsample on the first picture of the Girl her top is very well darwn, gret shadows and all, but then her pants looks like it was drawn by a person that don't know/learned how to draw wrinkels and Cloth, is that a style of yours, alså the hands on some of the images do not reasemple the same amout of details as for example the face, is that a style of yours to draw some parts of a Character very detailed but then leaving other areas very low detailed?

any ways, gr8 work!

regard, Wheels

I'm surprised that no one seems to have caught onto the fact that our man Maxx here said that he worked on StarCraft.

Maxx, could you clarify what your role was (presumably at Blizzard) and perhaps post some more StarCraft related sketches/pictures? I'm considering a career in the video game industry and it's always helpful to hear stories or experiences from people in the know :)

Thanks,

Maxx M.

HI!!!!

http://bbnk.dhs.org/~mmarshall/Dance.jpg
girl dancer. she's cute. (working on lines/weight/etc.)

http://bbnk.dhs.org/~mmarshall/Granny_Tendril.jpg
Granny Tendril..
a sorta mix of aunt may/Doc Oc/Venom.
YAY!!!!

now to respond....

Rickxu! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Wheels! THese are just sketches, (thus "Sketches and
Doodles") Most of my other stuff is for work. so it can't be
posted. BUT!!!!! No, I never had formal training. (Yeah, i had life drawing classes here and there, but no "Degree".) So
Wheels, i'm like ryu in SF, I travel the world learning little by
little. untill i can get as good as i humanly can... coolio?!?
(check out Granny's hands.)

Guges! Character Animation/Design/Modelling/pixel monkey!
It's a hard industry, (sometimes, i'm in 14-22 hour days for crunch, right now) but it's all it's cracked up to be!
I started in comics and got bored with deadlines that hurt too much. so i moved to "Draw a GOOD picture a day" and that was nice, then i got into the whole 3D model and anim thang,
and haven't looked back since. (though i am working on a Granny Tendril 2 pager hopefully for heavy metal....)

Advice: Stand out and DO YOUR BEST! wear mix matched shoes to interveiws, accesorize, be a team player, be humble
and practice like a MO FO!

Man I'm digging the new stuff, keep doing that figurework! Seriously good skills, man. Yeah grandma's hands are a little wack, but the arm muscles are convincing, I think it is because the knuckle for the middle finger isn't furthest out, and you really haven't gotten that kinda small inconsistant shape here(an arch the webbing creates), Maybe you would want to play up the tendons that run on top f the fingers too, as well as small spots, but it's just small frie stuff. Love the girl dancer, and your lines are really great! Post more!

so you worked on the zerg for Starcraft? what was the creative process like.. I did notice the protoss head.. were the protoss even conceptualized at the time???

I would like to see your rough sketches.. what you did before these ideas

Hola!!!
how's tricks?!?!?!

ok... as for a tutorial, i'm on it. it'll be a bit, but if you like my stuff, i'll show you how i do it! (read: i'm working on it!)

Then, as much as i love, LOVE that kids are paying attention
to this thread, I have to back off for a bit. (Read: Maxx has
been playing too much DOAXVB) (no, wait not that) OK
so, i'll be posting panels, (comic panels) from here on, and
sketches that got me to the panels, and ever so often pages.
but not so many single sketches of people.
the comic is about her:

http://bbnk.dhs.org/~mmarshall/Rango-N.jpg

and not about her:
http://bbnk.dhs.org/~mmarshall/Dancer_Play.jpg

as a (ugh) i hate doing this... but i really want you to see how i do something, then re-do it, then re-do it. so here's the first layout for the cover (laugh and you die!) the inks aren't in, the comp isn't correct yet, the colors aren't 3D but it's my
"will it jump off the stands and kick kids in the nuts to the
point of sales!" I'm currently working on the title art,
(whatever the heck that's called in a technical manner)
and hopefully you'll see me slowly (not that slowly, as it's
been copyrighted and deadlined) create the maxx m comic
book.! NEAT?!?!? I hope i don't bore you!

oh...
http://bbnk.dhs.org/~mmarshall/Rango_CvrColor_test.jpg

and that's all for right now. I'm creating more bad guys for
THQ's "ALTER ECHO" (IGN's most innovative game for the PS2
at E3 last year!) I'll post 3D art when it comes out, and i can't
get sued! As for blizzard stuff, i'm searching for things i can post and can't, YES it's my portfolio, but NO i don't have the
rights for any of it... (That's just what i need after buying a
house, to have UNIVERSAL/HAVAS sue me!)

PS, looking for some "game/cd" cash, what's a good way start
getting commisions?!?!? any one?!?!? any one?!?!?
