I have a strong background of design, life drawing, colour theory and classical animation/film theory, and I've drawn all my life; but I've only recently come to an impass where I know I have to move on to some serious painting before my conceptual designs can move from 'interesting' to 'professional'.
The unfortanet thing is, other than messing about with watercolours and blocking in some murals and theatre sets, I have no experience in the practical matters of painting.
I walk into an art store completely overwhelmed by the plethora of options, and I don't want to waste my money or time. Can anyone give me a simple run down of the supplies I'll need to get started, and nudge me in the right direction of some technical instruction?
