I've been working on some digital matte "paintings" as fun, personal projects using photos I've shot myself. Well, less paintings and much more reconstructions and extensions! Just thought I'd post up something different than my usual fare and see what y'all thought.
On this one, the source material is 10 shots from different glens in Scotland, 4 shots from the Sierra Nevadas, and two of the California coastline. The spires were painted from scratch based on cliff-face reference.

This one is based on sand tufa formations from Mono Lake, on the California/Nevada border up in the mountains. These bizarre (and somewhat sinister) "cliffs," in reality, are only about 12" tall. The water and birds are from the Northern California coast.

This last one is just a quick test. The double-hump shape of the mountain ridge is from the original photo.
