wow. phantastic photos, guys! damn, i better get up tomorrow and sit in the garden with some bird-food around me and hope that i at least get a picture of a dove or a squirrel. insects really don't count? cause we have nice spiders in the basement...:)

Awesome topic! Domesticated animals are ok, right? O, wait, yea I hope your cat is domesticated ShadeofDawn. Scratch my question. Awesome pictures so far! WEEEE!

December 25th, 2005, 06:29 PM
dunno. that cat has some sort of a wild look... :) yeah, with first posted pics like that, it IS a challenge!

ShadeOfDawn
December 25th, 2005, 07:45 PM
my cat is a Bengal Toy Leopard - it is a breed of domestic cat though - just a wilder one. She's the size of a normal house cat, or well maybe even on the small side because she's so skinny.

oh and stine just a manner of spelling - in English it is Fantastic, not Phantastic - heh just thought i'd point that out as you seem to like the word :p

i look forward to seeing your guys stuff!

mdwsr, did you use a tele lens for that picture?
i found it damn hard taking picture of birds even when using a tele lens :)

forgot, i had a "pet", too. :)

to my defense: it has SOMETHING to do with the topic...:)
oh, and sorry for all the spelling mistakes. SPEAKING a foreign language is one thing, WRITING is another...

Stine it doesn't need to be a pet,
it can be a wild animal as well

I think Stine's picture counts! And i think it is a most creative interpretation!

Here's a shot of my dog bringing back a toy to me:)!
It took me a long time to get the frame and shot exactly the way i wanted it to be with this shot. I wanted to fill the composition as much as possible with his running towards me, minimize the grass, and have him look larger than life. in order to get this particular view, i threw his toy a long ways, then promptly laid down in the grass in a way that would have him run back towards me in good light.

IGOR: i love this shot! very very nice!

-joel
EDIT (27 december): resized the image as requested thanks guys! :)

Hey Joel, couldnt we get a bigger shot of that? It looks good.. just too small!
Igor: I checked out your site, IT's fun! Particularly that computer graphics shot.

great photo, igor! nice to see some more people at this challenge...

it's one week is short time for i film photographer :(
but a little long for a digital artist
i haven't found a motive myself. :(

it seems like the photo challenge was a good idea :)

ShadeOfDawn
December 27th, 2005, 11:49 AM
Here in Canada it takes only a day, sometimes only an hour to develop a roll of film from any film camera i've ever used. Maybe the film used in SLR cameras takes longer? i've never used a non digital SLR before.

and i believe that interpretation is a MUST for this contest - i look forward to pushing the suggested topic and seeing others do it as well, i think its more interesting that way.

Sorry Guys it does say only one entry, I just removed buster.

ShadeOfDawn
December 27th, 2005, 12:17 PM
thats a nice picture but part ofthe rules to keep it more of an interactive thing is that you need to take the picture for the challenge, so you cant use a back catalogue of photos

see if you can get another shot of Buster

stine
December 27th, 2005, 12:32 PM
wow, you're motivated!:)
but like shade said, you have to taka a new picture and you are only allowed to post ONE photo for the challenge. barret posted the rules as this thread's first post...
but it's really cool you could join us!

stine
December 27th, 2005, 12:35 PM
cool! posting simultaneously! btw- why can't i write "fantastic", but THIS word?

ShadeOfDawn
December 27th, 2005, 12:55 PM

What about an Award (a picture) for the Photo Challenge?
That could be a simple "*" (star) or some other symbol... Just something the winner can show in his signature.
The picture shouldn't be bigger than 50x50 px..

December 28th, 2005, 11:08 AM

Sorry Andres but in the rules he said dont count insects, and coincidentally that bee (or wasp?) is an insect

but what camera do you use? if D SLR what lens? and did you have to zoom in at all after taking?

andres_pad
December 29th, 2005, 07:06 PM
oh crap, sorry, i didnt see that. i skimmed over them and missed it.
nah my camera is just a konica minolta - Dimage X50 and a lucky find of a bee.

sorry guys *blushes*

hows this one then?
(i dont really like it)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/andres_pad/horses.jpg

ShadeOfDawn
December 29th, 2005, 07:29 PM
I think if you cropped it around just the sun and horse it would be really nie and far more powerful

also, theres another rule you may have skimmed over. To keep this contest more interesting the picture you enter in it should be a new picture taken for the contest, not one of your older pictures.

but try cropping it and thne bring it back

also if you have a dark pic with a black border you should put a white line around the pic before the border. IMO anyway

Barret_wallace
December 29th, 2005, 07:34 PM
if you crop that picture i think you will lose the best part of the picture
that picture is really nice, but i wouldn't really put that picture under the category animals but something like forest :)
but that picture counts in the pol :) ;)
welcome to the competition
could you remove the picture of the wasp?
just to prevent confusion

ShadeofDawn.... I just saw your post about time it takes to develop film, and it takes about 5 days if you develop black and white, which I was shooting. But you can develop color in an hour (though, the quality is rather iffy)
