hi !
My name is marc nagel and i'm a graphic designer/
concept artist from germany. I`m currently working with the
guys from pepworks.com and here are some works of
mine.

1. biomech starship.
It seems to be standing on the entry pod at
front end,but its really kept in the air by
antigrav units embedded in the hull of the ship.

2. cyobreed_entrance
Concept for a chamber entrance in the cyobreed game.
Its influenced by aztec/mayan art and symbolism.

I like these concepts a lot, but I think you can push your line weights more to make the pieces 'pop. Particularly in the second concept, the bridge gets sort of lost in the background.

From these two drawings, it looks like you favor a sort of organic, segmented style to your forms.

well first off they're good concepts but my own biggest sci fi pet peeve is the "flea design" on space ships. a space ship can be so many things, and i'm sure everybody can justify why theirs is shaped like a flea but i just think there's too many of them out there, look around at other people's spaceship designs (i have none on my site so don't check, the last company i worked for still owns them)and you'll see a large "variety" of fleas. what i like to do is first draw a tiny silhouette thumnail, i make about a hundred tries on a piece of paper. that should help the design evolve a bit more. this is just me though, i think every artist should try and bring what they can to sci fi because it's such a cold subject as it is. it's nice to see somebody using more traditional art materials instead of markers and ink for their concepts, it breathes a little more life into the subject:D

Hi blackhand! Its true, the second image needs some
work on the outlines. It really looks a bit out of focus..

@wallychairmover:

yup,its a flea...;) gigantic that is..
well,I must say that I like insect/organic shaped ships
much more than the typical starwars/alien-type ships.
Its much too industrial, and tends to look like a lot
of plastic parts glued to one big heap. On the other
hand, originality is hard to achieve these days,as
almost everthing has been tried out. So bear with me..

Hi marcnail! Nice to see you here too. :)
As usual, great concepts. I like the way you drew those lights shining up from the ground in both images.
