View Full Version : Test poll - MULTIPLE VOTES ALLOWED

Hey all,
This is simply a test poll to see how something works. I've noticed that in the poll options that there is a setting for allowing multiple votes. Since we have so many entries and it is often difficult to choose between one and the other with only one vote to give away, I wanted to explore this as an option.
It's a public vote, btw :tihi:
So, in short:
VOTE MORE THAN ONCE

It was a tough choice. Ultimately, I thought option 4 handled thier values the best. Really cool concept. Such a hot girl.

Is there a limit to number of votes, or can votes be given weight?

The way it works is that you can vote once for each option, but no more than once for each.
I was thinking that if we adopted this system, we could simply limit our votes to three and specify who was our first, second and third choice, but the votes would ultimately be equal weight.

damn, im stupid
i thought you meant you choose one, vote for that, then repeat. i didn't even think to select multiple options at once (which makes a lot of sense in hindsight).

Well, I made a mess of that!.... didn't realise I should have ticked all my options at once, not go back and vote again ('cause it wont let you) duh!:dur: (I even read conundrums message and still didn't get it!)

... but some people might feel better that they at least got some votes from someone who said " i wish i had another vote to give because i would have given it to ..."
Hey Mike,
Yeah, that's the reason I'm looking into this. I just wanted to see how it worked. Almost every round, several of the voters have said they wanted to vote for more than one person, and this addresses the issue wonderfully.
I just handn't seen one in practice before, so wanted to test it out first before I went and "officially" did it.
Cheers,
~Oreg.
[edit] nephilim - That is a consideration, but no one says you *have* to vote for more than one. If you only want to vote for one, that's acceptable.

this idea's got my votes. just have to keep in mind that the tally & percentages will be harder to interpret (if anyone even does). %'s are now calc'd based on number of voters rather than total number of votes.

It wasn't working for me. It kept saying "You have already voted on this poll. Please press back to see the results" when I hadn't voted. It finally counted my vote when I had only one option selected.
EDIT: now one of my other votes is showing up, weird.

That still could happen on a single vote system, it's just more likely to happen with more.

Not another paintover, is it?
3 and 7 got my votes, cause they make 10.
10 is good. Always. Except when it comes to owls.
But let's not go into owls.
That would be a mess.
