Missed it by that much...

Well I just finished my CHOW entry...5 minutes late. :O

Oh Well, At least I got something done, which was my main goal. I'm just getting into digital coloring and frankly I think I still have a long way to go.
It doesn't really come across well in black & White but the wings are made of fire.

Anyway this is my first art post here and I'd love to get any imput you guys have.

The Good:
Well you got a lot of neat details going on with armor. The rendering of the wings and the mace looks pretty good, too.

The Bad:
It's confusing. The anatomy, or lack of, is what's really bringing down this piece. You chose a pose that's pretty awkward to begin with, and attempted to cover it up with the wings (where it's hard to tell exactly where they extrude from... the rib cage?). The position of your angel could be in a better spot on the page... You placed her (him?) on the bottom half, while not leaving much to look for at the top.

Overall:
I think you put in a lot of good work in the later parts of this piece (the painting and details), but made poor decisions in the beginning parts (the placement, the pose, the porportions and anatomy). Next time, spend more time making the right decisions in the beginning as well as the end.

Thanks forthe imput. I pretty much agree with most of your observations. This is the first female figure I've done in quite sometime and I've never gotten the hang of them. The anatomy is actually a bit better than shows up in the piece though it still needs somework. As for thew placement on the page. It was placed better on the actual drawing, but the image area on my scanner was smaller than I expected so the bottom was cut off. I should of cropped it better, but I was rushing to meet the deadline.
