I finished this a week ago, it's 30x40 in acrylic. It's also just done in 5 colors: cad red light, black, white, ultramarine blue, and burnt umber. I went to see Cirque du Soleil's Alegria last month and was floored by the visual feast it presented, and I went home and made this. One of the acts had this song in which theres the line in italian "vedrai she un sorriso nasconde spresso un gran dolore" which I think means "you will see that a smile often hides a great pain", or something like that. so this piece is about the masks we all wear to conceal conflict and negativity from others. so what do ya'll think?
thanks,

clay

I'm suprised they're still doing Alegria.. You should check for the soundtrack if you liked the music/songs from the show :)
The mask on the lower right is interesting with all those highlights.

ege. Turns her head and sees the Varekay tent.

Yeah, Alegria's been going on for a good 9 years now I think, and I'm glad its still going cuz it's the best ever. Thanks, I think the black one came out really cool too. I also think it's the one that reflects me the most. Pretty much everyone who sees this tells me that they feel a connection with one of the masks, I don't know why that is. But its cool
