Hey Everyone!
This is my first post on Concept art. I'm a junior illustrator at Ringling. Just thought i'd throw in something i've been doing in class, to start...One of my first Painter pieces. Yes, i know...a boring still life...But what the hell. Tell me what you think.

Looks tight, Laura! Very well done. You're learning many good things from Chad. =)

Very nice. I like the subtle hatching lines on the banana. I almost went to Ringling, but I ended up going to the Savannah College of Art and Design instead.

Just get some fruit at your local produce market, and a school desk at the local thrift store and you have "school" for a lot less money.

Super Irate says "My job of saving money while never sacrificing satisfaction is done here now. Live well fair folk of conceptart.org!"

Ahem....sorry about that. I really like the piece Laura. The blue lighting on the right side of tomato adds a nice contrast.

Awesome job, Aura! Love the colors and the specular highlights on the tomatoe (Dan Qualye spelling).

(And jrr -- 'tomacco'!!! You had me laughing out loud...)

Ok, I feel really bad about that post in your book cover thread, so I'm going to take some time here to throw out some much deserved oohs and aaahs. Sheer Amazing! Honestly, incredible color value and technique.

I like paintings from observation, the colors and values look really good. Do you have any more on the net? It's nice to see even more people from school.

Brokencow--There's acutally quite a few juniors and seniors I know in the CA and ILL departments I know that digi-paint....but they're few and far between...too bad for those who don't!

DragonGX -- Yes, they do teach you a little bit of Painter in one junior level class, Computer Illustration. But, most of the stuff you'll learn is outside of class....I use painter for a lot of my Illustration class work as well. Doing side projects is going to be the way you learn for the most part :)

Hey Laura...

Banana and Apples...hmmm... Robin Cody's class? Cheryl Cooper? Fiore Custode's? Just curious.

Nice piece. You should definetly take Custode's if he's still there... :)

Thats really, really awesome! The cast shadow on the banana and some of the other edges seems too hard to me. I softened them up. Do you think that helps it? There was also a tangent with the tomato and banana where you have that interesting triangular negative space. I adjusted that to try to fix it. Excellent color Aura! Hope that helps!
