Hi all,

just finished inking this. hoping for some comments before i color this on photoshop.

and the dudes in the back... do they look too uniformed? like the ones int he front are in a straight line. i showed my pencil to my art teacher and he said they were too messy and told me to make them uniformed but now i think i over did it.. or is it just me?

some background on this image. based on chinese mythlogy. heaven's army has a pair of scouts that could see and hear for thousands of miles. their name in chinese means "thousand mile eyes" and "swift wind ears".
so this is my interputation of them.

nice detail and figures, but what bugs me is that you cropped off too much of the 2 main persons. i like everthing else.

Overall i think its very good. Nice linework!

One crit i have is the hand on the character stoking his beard (on the right) looks off. The angle of the fingers compared to the back of the hand, the knuckles, and fingertips (fingernails?)

I may not have really noticed it, except that the hand in the foreground character looks so good. It really conveys a sense of the different masses of the hand.

funny thing is i thought the composition was really good haha. i still got much more to learn about composition and dynamic figures tho. too used to drawing character layout stuff, instead of posed figures with backgrounds n all.

and yes i am gonna do the clouds more in color. i didnt want to use line too much for the clouds because that would force me to do the clouds a certain shape while i color.

as for the hand on the beard guy... the hand is actually drawn on a different page, because the original hand i did on the page looked WAY too small. so i hand to draw another hand and force draw the beard into the hand on photoshop after cutting and pasting n stuff.
cant believe after all that editing on the hand i forgot the nails...

Finally colored this.
something about it really bothers me and im not sure what... maybe its the composition of the 2 figures ppl already stated.
pls comment on the color.
also i have a feeling that my linework and my colorwork are competing, like they dont merge well with each other, both wants to be dominant... i already softened the lines alot but i still have this feeling.

Maybe coloring the guys robe another color to make him pop out and not blend with the background as much.

mm yah good point thanks. i changed it to green to further work with the red/green thing i have going on, along wit some minor tweaks, posting it in FF shortly

I saw your other thread. I love your inkings and the details. The design is realy cool too.
The coloring on the characters are really nice, the problem I see with the picture is the background. The clouds aren't very detailed and lack a good form, the armies in the background are equally heavy colored. They should be lighter colored so they can appear to be farther in the back.

I think that the coloring is good...it adds a lot to the piece...no real crits...
