I've noted Feng Zhu draws with a lot straight lines, even for his organic stuff.

I've noted Carlos Huante draws with a lot of curves and scribbles.

Which way is preferred for employment as a concept artist?
Draw like an architect or draw like a traditional artist?

I've noted a lot of architect type styles are being incorporated more and more.....so this 'might' have merit.

...Feng Zhu...Carlos Huante...

I think you'll find that Feng Zhu and Carlos Huante both have jobs as concept artists. Does that answer your question?

In other words, I'd say it's preferred that you draw well.

i chop and change all the time.
i will say, however, that the vast majority of the old masters used lots of curves.
i like both looks personally.

Most of my lines have natural curves. But like MoP said, its the end result which counts. :)

I was just reading "The Practice and Science of Drawing" (http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/14264) the other day.. the author gets into straight stable lines versus loose and expressive line. For composition it seems it is better that you can acknowledge and utilize both. Stable lines can give stability and contrast to the expressive lines.

For concepting I dont think that it really matters.. like MoP said as long as you can draw well then it doesnt matter how you get there. I find that drawing with really linear forms helps me slow down and make more thoughtful decisions.. and drawing with curves helps get things out faster with more flow to it.

That says it all...

Depends on how your hand works IMO. (I for example, have really really long fingers......and they bend backwards in the middle falange, So straight lines cost me a little more)

In other words, whatever is more confortable to you. ;)
