I have been surfing the conceptart.org boards for a good while now and it seems that some of the professionals here use the Pilot Hi-Tec C Gel Pens. Of course being the disciple that I am, I too would like to use these pens. There is one unfortunate problem. They are not available in the states. Well, I thought that was funny because I know that it was mentioned in a couple of threads that people were able to purchase these pens in the United States. So, being the pushy consumer that I am, I wrote pilot pen and asked them if it was possible for me to purchase these pens. I got a reply saying

"Due to our marketing agreement with our parent company, and in some cases patent restrictions, we are unable to either sell or stock this item. We are sorry we cannot assist you in obtaining it. Please check our Web site, www.pilotpen.com for items currently available."

being determined to get the pens, I checked the asian websites for Pilot and, of course, there they were ready and available to the asian market (they always have the best materials). So I wrote back to Pilot and said that I had noticed the pens were avaiable to the asian market and asked if they could please get me in touch with someone who could sell me these pens. I received teh following reply

"Each Pilot Affiliate has a specific list of products available to them and the residents of their marketing area. They may not sell outside of their area, nor may they sell directly to consumers. We are sorry to say these pens are unavailable to you unless you travel abroad. Again, the Marketing Agreements and patent restrictions apply."

Needless to say, I still want these pens, so I suggest that I, and anyone else who would like to use these pens, make their voice heard.

If you are interested, then I suggest that you quickly dispatch an email to service@pilotpen.com and let them know that you would like the be able to get these great pens.

that is all.....

That's how we feel in Germany/Europe most of the time... no newsprint paper, no Prismacolor pencils, just Pentel cheap brush pens... :( ... I know how you feel!

Theoretically, yes. Practically it's not affordable (any more): Usually postage costs a fortune from the US if you don't want to wait for ages (SAL takes up to two months and you can never be sure to receive it at all) - plus since last year about a third of the worth of the parcel is what you can expect to pay to the customs (Zoll). I ordered some arts stuff from blueline-pro last year, worth about 100US$, plus 30$ (app) postage plus 34$ customs = no fun!

Wish you good luck for your search for those pens!!!

PS: Your German is very good, are you from Germany, stayed here for long, Austrian Grandma or what is your secret?

Hey, here is an idea. you should make an aquaintance in the U.S. and then have that person buy the things and ship them to you personally. It would cost you a lot less, wouldn't it? just a thought, but then maybe you already thought about that and it just didn't work out.

Ich hab' Deutsch an der Uni gelernt u. hatte einen Zimmerkamerad aus Hamburg. Momentan arbeit' ich bei BMW wo ich viele moeglichkeiten habe Deutsch zu ueben.....

Customs also apply to private parcels ... However, I decided that not the tool makes the artist, but learning... (the grapes are too sour said the wolf when he couldn't reach them...) ;)

Working at BMW, great!

Hey

I checked the website link you left, and er, no luck for the UK either, which is a shame as I tend to use Pilot pens for my work too. What a load a b******ks. You'd think a corporate company such as them would try to sell there product all over the world, or at least to interested creatives such as yourself...

Good luck m'dear with your search for the Pilot Hi Tec C Gel Pens....

i didn't know they were making you pay customs on private parcels now too. that is outrageous. sorry to hear that for you. i hope you get along well though with what is available. i thought that europe being the center of the renaissance would have better art supplies...... such is life. never fair. i feel pain for you.

i just got the kaimei brush pen, it is amazing. nothing like those other brush pens. i couldn't go to sleep last night because i was up drawing until 2:30 in the morning.

well, good luck and best wishes
