A few months back I saw DSIllustration and some others talking about cheap 11" x 17" scanners. I cannot find that conversation again... help me out. Post some links where I can get one for as little $ as possible?! Thanks! :tihi:

I was disappointed to find out recently that my epson cannot capture all of it's 8.75" x 12" glass area...this mustek might have to be added to my christmas list.

i wish i could help out...but we used to have one here at work (actually i may have been an 11x14), and oh how i miss it. Sadly it stopped working properly and couldnt be reinstalled onto newer computers. It made life so much easier.

Here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=52938) is that thread.

Staples sells the mustek a3 for $179.

I wanted to get the HP scanjet 4600 but they stopped selling it, I want to find one that can tile scan pages that are 18"X24" or 24"X36". I think the scanjet 4670 is the only one that is truly flat for tiling, but I've read mixed reviews about it.

Anyone ever tried out the Mustek? I´ve been thinking about this one, too but what I know from Mustek-Scanners (including my personal one at home) doesn´t really convince me. I´d like to hear some opinions of the people that have used it ...

DSillustration was nice enough to post a sample scan made with the Mustek in this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=52938) thread

I went through 3 mustek a3 scanners and none of
them worked...finally I got my money back. But perhaps
it was bad luck, I don't know... I think there is a reason why it
is so cheap!:S

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the responses. I found the A3 on-line... it's just annoying having to paste bigger images together. Plus, the scanner I have now is very slow! So, the A3 is the way to go? That scan looked pretty nice that DS threw up. Plus, I don't exactly have the kind of money to throw into something more than a couple hundred bucks or so. Later!:^^:

dont get me wrong,
there are a lot of better scanners out there.
and the mustek likely has its flaws...

but there is a reason its $100 instead of a $1000.
for the money, it cant be beat.

Thanks,

as a professional pixelpusher I get nearly every result I want even from a cheap scanner. I used a Mustek 1200 UB Plus now for nearly 4 year until it finally went into the happy scanning grounds. It´s just I´m maybe lazy and spoiled by working with Heidelberg and good Microtecs ;).
