Hey cool work man! My only dificulties are in comprehending the drawings of the (pilots?). Perhaps a little more clarity of line would make it easier to see...
I love the second landscape and the B+W portrait. Keep it up

The inkwork, despite the top one bending partway up, is head and shoulders above the rest of the work here, IMO, although I like the noir-ish head too. Keep going!

Mid.

btw, what's so great about mid-November?

Like the caandle and the chair for some wierd reason (wierd cos i can't but my finger on why).

They look like a cross between an old victorian drawing and a modern comic one (mignola-ish).

Your last abckgrounds are cool as well.

Very strong black and white work, and composition. The random elements add a lot of life to these!

These are looking really good, you've obviously found a great style here (you bastard!).

I'd like to see some more depth in your traditional works, though - right now, they're pretty much all situated on one plane, and I think they'd look amazing if you get some perspective going on them.

Love the last two traditional pieces. Really..really nice colours and painting style.

How did you do the white highlights on top? are these done in watercolour?

Infact I like your muted colours throughout (again I love those trees).

I agree with midnight, it'd be great to see some background, Like the trees put with the traditional charectors.

Keep it up!

It appears to me that these are painted digitally, but that's just a guess.
ben: you've got some really good stuff going on here, i've got to say. it seems like there is a lot of mood / introspection / psychology that goes into your drawings and it's really cool to see that imaginative aspect.

crits: in the fishing scarecrow one, it appears that the watercolor may be warping your paper a bit, which definitely detracts from the quality of your scan. i hate it when that happens to me. in the portrait paintings, the one with the blue background has some facial anatomy issues: one eye is plainly bigger than the other. Also these could use just a dash of some of that background color. try to think of the caucasian facial skin as being somewhat translucent ... cheeks are different colors than eye flesh or the forehead.

keep up the great work! my favorites are http://www.benpowis.net/images/aviationsketch.jpg & http://www.benpowis.net/images/fashion1.jpg + those COOL ASS ink chairs... i'm a big ink guy as well :)

those scarecrows kick ass!!
that second portrait needs some help around the eye. He has no orbital or brow area, and that's killing the whole thing for me.

Everything you posted on the 19th was great! I also like the portraits, but yeah some anatomy issues. Here is my attempt at a paintover on the second one:

Some of this stuff might just be how this person looks. Areas labeled with '?' are things I'm not sure about. Actually I'm not sure of anything ever, so don't worry if you disagree with some of this.

Where are yoouuu??? Your art work is so beautiful. It was such an inspiration to look at your SB in real life (and to meet you, of course! ;)).

You have a great storybook style that makes for some very interesting visuals. I really like the guy looking out the window (from the Nov. 27th post). The rain seems to be coming down in a paste. Like Guggen says, it makes for a good psychological effect and mood.

You have an interesting style man, first off, this one is absolutely lovely http://conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4944&stc=1&d=1152571234
Its simple yet complex at the same time :)
Your colours are mostly fixed in the midrange atm though, It flattens them out alot and makes the images seem grey and dull, try bringing some more saturation in there! Im a complete noob when It comes to colour though so you know...

Anyway, just keep it coming, very tasty :D

I really like that hut. I want to live there. The way to did it is awsome, paint under pen...it looks like a lot of detail is in the painting the way you did it but mostly it looks like color in the hill and your pen strokes define it. Awsome. What is the effect used in the hill? Something about it makes me think you didn't just use a round brush...

I have to say that I really like the feel of these drawings. You may just give Blacky a run in the "quirkiness" department. I may have missed your explanation of the Mulbury Hill project (if you even gave one), but they have a cool children's book look to them. Hope you post more of these.

Hey, anytime you want to explain your Mulbury Hill project, lay it on us, it sounds and looks interesting. On that last figure, you should finish the face; she looks very incomplete with all the detail in the clothing and such. Still like it, though.
