stine: Yeah economy of lines is one thing Im really focusing form
some time now, I dont quite have it all figured out but I do think
Im getting there, thanks for the props on the dinamics, god knows
I still need loads of practice there, and at last Im really amused to
read that you too live on a limited art supplied city, and yeah IT SUCKS! :P
Oh I almost forgot, yeah the eyes look kinda funky but the model
did had some how a small iris, it looked kinda odd tho.

Carnifex: He, he what can I say getting away from Phil and Foster is hard
and I dont see the point since I love the work of those fellas, I got to
have my inspirations dont I? :P har har, I glad you diged the last pics
they were my favs of the buch as well, yours truly ---Daddy Smurf---

seth1: Thanks for the props, ill keep doing em, now Iv been feeling the need
to change gears again, so spect some weird shit coming from my end
on the next updates :D KEEP IT UP my friend!

Ok I need to work on my mouths, on subtleties, on arm and legs anatomy
on dinamics, on interaction, on my TD piece, and on eviroments,
a crap better go to sleep and get productive tomorrow.

SP ballpoint, I must do more of this.

Good to here man. I love this new portrait so dynamic and you can really feel the energy. For the secound one maybe try and plan in your head a little more befor hitting the paper with the lines draw it out with the eyes and mind then once you see Bamn stick on that paper. Keep up the good work buddy.

i love the designs of clothes you made, dude. hehe... draw more hot ladies! lol

it's hard to draw in public without people seeing you staring at them... unless you live in a big city - where i do not live. haha. more people, the less you think you're being stared at by an artist.

i really like the way the girl turned out on the left in | http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/maxetormer/sittinggal.jpg | this one. keep it up! <3

Decker: Thanks a lot man!

enthombed: Thanks a lot Icaro!! ill be looking forward to your updates!!

MattGamer: I will I will, and yeah ill do more ladies for the next
update count on that!! thanks for the props on the girl
as it dificult to them right I think Im heading in the rigth
direction now a days, and well I get bother by ppl while drawing
on public but its great to build selfconfidece the more I draw
like that the less I got shy when some guy wants a drawing done
in front of his eyes, and than I belive is good to get comisions

fooxoo: Will do THANKS for the props!!

Q-Caddlewick: Im an moment of my life were all I do is draw
and study on my own, I only have this year so I better make
the most out of it :P thanks for the props ill keep
updating my progress!!

Inkfish: Count on that my friend!! and thanks!

rodrigo!: HO, HO, HO what do you mean I look like?
I am Santa!! HO, HO, HO he he thanks for the props man
it good to read you diged the life stuff as I really dig
your stuff, and yep ill keep the pencil on motion!!

Lunch: I use a mirror most of the times, as I dont
think that using a photo is as rewarding, so nope
I did not used a photo for the last one :D
thanks for the props man!!

WAWWUU so many comments :xpld: thanks for droping around!!!
I really apreciate you guys takeing the time to write your
opinions about my doodles!! :star: :yayca: :star:

Ok so tonight there was this politic debate and I just had to
draw the participants, one of this fellas here will be
the next president of México, I think ill vote for
the woman, she sounded real smart on tv... then again
the tv has lied to me before...

Very nice max.. Love the values in these drawings.. I really like the expression of the middle man on the top row. Impress me more with ever update.

stine
June 7th, 2006, 12:31 AM
cool update, the portraits are looking great. i really like how you manage to kind of "sculpt" the forehead. dunno, is that understandable?

MattGamer
June 7th, 2006, 12:37 AM
lol, "tv has lied to you before". real cool characters!! i'd vote for the girl too. real nice for capturing the characters ... takes me forever and i have to pause the img. haha

i definatly want to be confident enuff in my art enough that i can draw with people staring at me. it's hard for me to draw somebody, like my friends, when they ask. i'm like... uhh... ok.. and then it comes out sick and ugly. haha

maxetormer
June 7th, 2006, 03:13 PM
seth1: Im glad my friend!! and yeah that one was my fave too!

stine: I got your idea pefectly, and yep doing good foreheads is tricky
they have form but its so subtle that some times the eyes thinks
its just flat :D thanks for the props!!

MattGamer: I know the felling man, most of times the drawing looks
awfull and then I feel all ashamed that everyone got to see my
disgrace, but then again you cant win em all and beeing too worried
about it makes for some bad melancolic days, crap will arise, and
below the good stuff will always be found, the faster we learn
to live with it, the faster we imprive :P Thanks for the ecouragment
it means a lot to me!!

cool stuff, working hard as always. witht he figure drawing from life- the area around his elbow seems a bit too thick. also i think with the shading theres too many patches of halftone making it kind of confusing...i think you should just try to block in the major patterns of shadow and then work in the halftones off the turning point, i think this is more important, more important than cast shadow as well i think, just trying to simplify what you see.
cheers.

you see within the restains of the tecnique, using pen
is some how very liberating :P

All pages from my mind except the dog and the guy with
his arm extended on pencil, those were done on the street,
the rest is done with ballpoint pen, Im testing my gesture ability
seeing were are my weakness to work on those for the next
update, and playing with the pages too, still a LONG way to go :P

Yo broseph, missed out on your stuff for a while, great new stuff! This (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/maxetormer/dinamicsexperiment2.jpg) dude is awesome, Phil Hale like a mofo! The arm on the right feels a tad wonky, foreshortening an arm at that angle is a tricky number. Great character studies, too, particularly on this one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/maxetormer/badnite.jpg). You've got some neat stuff comin from your noggin. Lovin the hands in this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/maxetormer/ocbunnydoodleiiica.jpg) one, and that cowboy is cool too. I'd suggest bringing the back leg a bit more to the left, right now he feels more like he's line stepping than walking. Also nice SB cover! Good work!

on the right, TheGnoll did the the daemon dog, and ham-e did the
dog head on the left, and the grafitty doodles on the middle.
and some doodles form my mind, Im in the experimental mood as
of late, iv been working on my TD but I cant show ya guys yet.

and thats about all for this update, lets hope the next one looks better :P

::EDIT::
I made some changes on the last image, thanks to Jens observations,
I think now she look a bit better, then again, she is kinda of dumb :P
thanks for the heads up Jens, ur work is always an inspiration!!

hey dude

the expression on that last one is a bit "dumb". Probably because here eyes are to close together. The upper eye lids, the teeth and lower lip are all unshaded, makes it look a bit weird. She also leaning to the left.

Cowboy dude is great, your stuff is getting increasingly cool :P

excellent work on the last pic man, i think its great because the rendering and linework of the faces are very soft. a very important thing to keep in mind because of the rib cage and the spine, is that the neck is lower at the front and higher at the back. this is mainly about the side view of the girl.
keep up the good work buddy!

another hard worker in here, don't know why I haven't replied in here before!

I really dig your stuff, mate. I like the lifedrawings (your feet are badass!) and this portrait-exercises ( I'm gonna give that a try!), especially the last update is cool, reminds me on HPX's stuff a lot!

Keep on rocking mate!

Ok so this is how this painting ended up looking, Im not entirely
happy with it, but I think I got most of my goals done on it.

cool stuff man

the painting turned out good it think, mayby some weird things about the about the arm that's closest to the viewer. It has a very sudden color change from red to yellow, the hand looks a bit small. Did you use ref for that one? Good lightning on the face and i like the loose paint on the pants

Ham-e
June 24th, 2006, 09:38 AM
Ooooh man that's a nice painting! congrats great work!:xpld:

yee-uh boyee! Nice painting. Great handling of the white shirt! Lotta color goin on in there, great pants, too. I agree that is there a pretty harsh color shift in the arm on the right, and that hand feels a tad small in comparison to the face. I don't think you need to go all the way to black on the core shadow on the arm on the left. Also, there's a good amount of dead space on the right, cropping in just a little on the right will strenghten the composition.
Good job all in all, that facial expression is hot!
Also, those last drawing with the ball point are awesome, great hands.

June 24th, 2006, 02:38 PM
wow, the painting is really nice (maybe the upper part of the head could have been a little bit bigger), but i really like it.The other fast sketches look REALLy great, as gloom said the remind me of HPX.VEry expressive and precise at the same time.Great stuff, keep the thread up! :D

Of all your work it's your pencil and pen drawings that really stand out to me. Your lines and your hatching look great in both. Your oil painting is looking awesome. I'm not sure about the cut off of the legs.. But the rendering is great and it looks cool.

nice stuff man, that oild painting is pretty well done :)

maxetormer
June 26th, 2006, 05:40 AM
Jens: yeah I used some ref I shotted my self for the body
and the face was a mix, ill say.. 50/50 using ref and just messing
around with the form, to obtain a more extreme expresion,
I agree about the sudden color change, I wasnt sure wether
if I should change it or not, and I was getting tired of seeing
the image, but since most ppl have founded that part to be the
most anying and I can always pile more paint on top cause
its oils I think ill re work that area, thanks for critics man
their are really spot on :D and yeah the hand should have been
slightly bigger, it looked smaller on the ref, and I just used that
scale, but you know how photos can distort reality, and I just
missed that error, good call mate!!
THANKS a lot for the comments they mean a lot to me!!

Ham-e: Thanks a lot man!! REALLY!

lefran: Thank you very much Sir

Andy P: Thanks for the critcs ill keep em in mind for sure,
and thanks for the props on the hands man!! I love drawing hands

TheGnoll: I will man, i will, I wasnt sure about that, but keep it in mind.
You see, the rest of his head is floating above, I mean the top of his
skull expoded, so the bit you feel its missing is really just
rigth above his head :P thanks for the props as well, they mean
on heck of a lot, hope we get to OC again man, it was fun the last time!

this1: I shall keep doing weird suff for sure, Im glad you liked the deamon hunter :D

Boogieman: Thanks for the props, I still need a lot of practice to get
my lines in order, so its nice to read you liked em as IMO they are the
most dificult thing to master, and thanks for the compo critic
too, after I was done I did thought that I would have liked to include
the feet, but hey, that would have to be for the next one he, he :P

WhiteC: Thanks a lot!! :D

Ok so my LSM si going ok, and aside working on that,
here it is a portrait I did at my life drawing seccion with acrylics,
this guy is a really good model, with some really sleepy weird eyes,
and some portait pratice with photos, I still need to practice
a lot more to get a better ratio of success on likeness :\
but ill get there some day; so this night was for the beautifull
Audrey Tautou, the drawing it was kinda big so I had to take a photo,
Im sorry about the wrinkles but the paper was kinda cheap :(

Till the next update!! and THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS!! :xpld: :painting:

forget that thing in the painting, it looks all right.I love these two last portatraits. The dude has indeed very strange eyes :D
The woman one in really nice, love the unfinished look and the smooth rendering. The wrinkly page doesn't ruin it at all.Maybe the whole head looks a bit too elongated but who cares.Man, your pencils are CLEEEEAN.
Keep 'em coming

ciao

TheGnoll: Thanks a lot man, ill keep working as hard as I can,
Im glad you thought the wrinkly page doesnt kills the drawing :D
and again thanks for the encouragment and critics!! they mean a
whole lot to me!

Ok I decided to start a new sketchbook, I was getting really annoyed by
some of the old work, and many of my images disappeared with the
renderosity "crash", Ok wish me luck on this new stage!!

This is the adress to my NEW SKETCHBOOK for anyone that is interested :P

Great updates dude..especially your pen sketches..man...i m jelous of those lines..really..not joking man..you should do more pen sketches..:D
That oil painting is also nice..but that right knee needs more contrast i guess. I liked the colours u have used.
One more thing i want to tell u about the ur portaits..there is something wrong, cant tell u what exactly..e.g. that master copy in pencil. Just my observation..could be wrong, dont mind, but those hand studies and other stuff is really very nice.

and Post more Pen sketches :D

Hey the sketches in the thread just keep getting better and better. I love your character designs, paticulaly the ones up the top of the page. Yeah, just an encouraging word from me, no crits, as I dont wanna be a hypocrite. The male portrait in the last post looks very stone age, great values and form. you should sell it to National Geographic so they can stick it on the next 20 million year old corpse they find.

Go hard bro, keep it up.

Somebody's workin' hard!! Lovin' the inks as of late... lots of energy man. I like how you're trying to loosen up. I'm sorry I haven't been around as of late. Been busy with internship and can't really upload to my server from my house for some reason. Hopefully I'll have somethin' soon. Take care, man.
