View Full Version : Tortured Soul

Here's a piece based on the whole crossroads myth of Robert Johnson.
Since there are only two known photographs of him in his early career I tried to imagine what he would look like if he were still walk'n the earth today as a souless tortured ghost of a being.

I'll include the pencil, the tonal (before I go to colour) the final and a detail
of the piece.

Pencilled by hand, scanned and painted in Photoshop (16 by 20 inches)
Hope you like.

Respectfully,
Gangus

The big eyes on the snake fingers make them look kinda cutsey and that IMO takes away from the over-all dark edgy look of the piece . Otherwise it's awesome :)

Damn thats nice, it really brings the feeling of it being a jazz player and the atmosphere works as well. Fucking awesomes, I'm saving this one.

Very nice. I especialy like the crazy eyes. Perhaps a little more definition on the left side of the face. The colors & textures are outstanding! CHEERS

Thanks for the response on the piece.

For the question as to which brushes I use - Oddly enough I don't stray from the basic brush set - I find (personally) that I get distracted if I give myself too many options.
