A painting

I got a question with the coloring with the picture. I saw a tutorials which teach us use a color and a black color. THen paint it and use other color balance to change the color when u finish. What is the purpose of using this method? Why dont we just use the color we want and then paint on it?


I dont mind anyone answer it deeply and discuss about it ;) ;)
