Yes, I know. I'm overly paranoid, BUT...
The newest generation of Nasties to Share online can and will activate just by you clicking on a web link...It is starting to have an effect on worldwide web surfing.

So, when these wonderful individuals join CA, and use their first 10 posts to start threads all over the place promoting naval lint scholarships or whatever, do yourself a favor, and don't click on the links. Think of them as really disgusting porn of clothed old amish people or something. The hard drive you save may be your own...

Just use a browser like Firefox or Opera, or just get a mac.
But yeah, don't click them.

I think someone already had the idea (and I wrote that in some other thread too). But wouldit be possible to remove all the create topic buttons if a user has less than ten posts or something like that.
So people would first have to post ten replies somewhere else and that can even be done in the Lounge easily if you want to force it.

And if you have that in the FAQ and Rules then you instantly know thet people have read the rules too.
I don't know how people who create that spam work but I don't think that they take their time to read the rules.

It's more a matter of taking a moment to see how many posts a member has in the upper corner before clicking a link.

If the post count is less than 20, I wouldn't click on a link without checking their profile.

We don't need to police post counts, we just need to click hyperlinks responsibly...sad that the internet has degenerated to this point, tho'...

Ehh .. how about deleting SPAM ?
Because Im not sure this even happens .. but I might be wrong.

Asoir : "Just use a browser like Firefox or Opera, or just get a mac."

Or use Linux .. have your system up to date with all the patches ..use progs like adaware & spybot & any virus checkers.. biggest evil .. is not remembering to activate the firewall under XP .

I surfed for an hour under XP without firewall after Id just done a reeinstall & then had to do another reinstall :)

that would have really depended on what kinda sites you went to. some you can trust, such as :yayca: not to give you greeblies.. if your system was bad enough for a reinstall after only an hours searching, i wouldnt question the lack of firewall, but the content of your browsing.. ;) ahem.

I think the mods are shorthanded.

I usually delete it after I execute the spammer.

However, I didn't this last time around. They were still online here and I wanted them to see all of their posts locked down and that I had banned them. :er:

Sadistic, I know. >:D

...Think of them as really disgusting porn of clothed old amish people or something.Even though I would hate myself later, I would be compelled to click that link. I just...wouldn't be able to stop myself. :nohope:

-> Indeed ... something that "discusting" <I wonder that I get if I search for old amish porn ? :D> is just very tempting .
