After seeing this web site this morning:

http://www.absculpture.com/

I decided to have my first go at making a human face sculpt using his tutorial (my first sculpt was the Hulk).

It's based on an actor but I don't think it looks much like him but I did rush the eyes (I think this is where the problem is) and it still need s a lot of work all over before it's finished. So it might look like him in the end. I'll let you guess who it's based on:

That looks great. I'm going to guess it's Patrick Stewart just because of the nose but I doubt it's him. Thanks for the link, I'm going to try this out myself.

looking pretty nice, looks like the general shapes and proportions are in order except for a few. the eyes look a little too close together. as a rule of thumb, the center of the eyes wil line up with the corners of the mouth. also, measure the width of one of the eyes and that same distance should be between the eyes. one eye would fit between the two. check your ear anatomy. look at some ears from the front of the face and you'll notice that they're not flatly placed on the head. also, just study the ear from the side too, looks like a few things are off.

keep going with it, overall it is looking nice ,jsut a few minor tweaks will make it much better.

Thanks for the comments.

I've been having a better look at the image I was working from and I think I've got his head slightly to wide. I'll try and re-work that.

I hate ears! :\

I can never get them right at this size. Once I get one bit correct, I then mess it up try to work on the next bit. Maybe I need some better tools than what I've got? I've just got a set 3 plastic tools and one pin tool.

I re-worked the eyes last night and they look better now.

Thanks,

Thanks for posting the link.

I like the head, it's coming along nicely, less symeterical features will give it more character. As would a neck and shoulders. A turn of the head would also give it movement. I'd like the mouth to be more modelled and look forward to seeing it finished.

well, in my opinion, its either Bernard Hill (King Theoden) or Ben Kingsley. Either way, its still very good.

Thanks for the comments! :rendered:

I'll let you know who it's meant to be (and I've made him look better since these pictures): Edward Norton from 'American History X' :bashful:

I'm working on his body now and when it's finished I'd like to paint it black and white - like in the film.

I might also have to versions of the body - one with no top on and one with his vest on.
