Hi I'm new here; I heard CA is really good about giving constructive feedback on art, so I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my sketch. Thanks to anyone who takes time off to read, look, and critique.

Run, you'll probably get yelled at because this isn't a completed work yet. Read the FAQ at the top. But, while there is still time:
ZGood angle,
Bad texturing for the tree, it really looks as though the underside leaves are just hair, since it's not so dark a shadow as to convince you that you wouldn't be able to see the foliage from underneath. Right now it seem as though it's just a continuation of the characters head (of course you might have verey well been aiming for that, in which case you have succeeded.)

Are those supposed to be clouds, higher up in the screen, or just foliage? Either way, it's lacking.
If they are clouds, try to observe real ones more carefully and you'll see quite clearly what is wrong with your renderings.

The rocks on the right side are jumping out because they are contrasting with all of the darks around, try to shade them all over to a darker tone, not necessarily a dark tone, just a darker tone to push them back.

Small crit, right forearm(his left) is slightly bigger than his right.

luck be with you!

Embarrassingly enough, this is my completed work :bashful: But a very big thank you for the feedback; it was very helpful. :teeth:

This is certainly a promising start. If you haven't seen the Loomis (http://www.saveloomis.org) books, you should look them over.

And this was done in March? Do you have any newer stuff? Also, you can go to image shack or photobucket and they will host your images for free, so that you can put them directly in your posts.

good stuff,

i think i like to see less sky maybe more of him cause he the focus.
and maybe more tree on left then the stuff on right.
so it kinda like photography the way you crop it.
