Hey all,
I posted an illustration I did for an underground hip hop magazine a while back. Anyway, they liked it (or my price) so much that they got me to do the cover of the next issue. I ended up pressed for time so it's not as hot as I would like but I thought I'd show ya.
The funny thing was that my girlfriend, who's a professional graphic designer, decided to help me out by colouring an alternate version. So here they are. Don't be afraid to tell me if you like hers more. I do.:D

Oh yeah, the guy in the picture is Buju Banton "chanting down Babylon".

I dont know why but Alex Toth came to mind when I first looked at this.

I know it's too late to crit. The forearm going torward the viewer could be a bit larger, it make the hand look like the big "We're #1" foam hands you see at the games.

Looking good though.

Including a babylon looking city was a good touch. But it's the pose you put him in that makes it work.

Hey, just thought I'd mention that the client went with her version which was humbling but it was fun to do a joint project like that and they are really happy with the result.

Davi: Word to your sentence, verb, dangling participle.

ChadTHX1138 I totally agree about the forearm. I still have trouble with forced perspective sometimes and I didn't realize it was so out of wack until I was halfway through colouring. I'll probably fix it for my portfolio.

Tedsuo Thanks man.

Is that what Buju does when he's not singing about shooting Matty boys in d' head? just kiddin. That's a very moving illustration. I think I like the top one better, but if you gotta change it for mag-ness, you gotta.
