I should post more often. This is another alice, no doubt you may have noticed the flurry of alice themed things lately...

Anyway, i'd love some crits before i call it done. It depicts the tea party scene (durr). It started its life as a comic, so that may explain some bits...

Does it make sense?

this is really beautifully done. i really like the concept, and the border just screams Aesop. very period. i will make note that the teapot in the top panel is a little off perspective, and sadly that overall her face is quite generic and square. any way to soften the features and add a little more personality? maybe some slightly bigger blue eyes to provide focus and contrast to the earth tones you have her in.. your choice tho man, im really impressed at this :D

like it alot.
got a dark feel to it, that works well.
the only thing that seems a bit odd to me is
the way the small figures and objects (the blue ones in the middle..)
are portraid. they all have polygon like tables.
like in a low-res 3d rendering.
(it`s mostly noticable in the fist, bottom left.)

other then that it`s really beautiful.
keep it up.

You get my vote, man :teeth:

I thought immediately of that Wyeth painting when I saw this - can't remember the name, but it was something like 'Sophie's World' or similar. Anyway it depicts a young girl alone in a grassy field and gives quite an interesting feeling of loneliness, etc. Sorry for the rambling reply. I guess I'm trying to say that this gives a similar feeling, but with an Alice twist, of course. Very nice - I especially like the monotone color scheme, it divides the image up well.

Good luck!

Your piece is really beautiful, I love the feel of it.

My critique is that where Alice is lying in the grass I think her legs are not connected properly to her body. When you look at the angle of her back, I don't believe those legs could possibly connect up to her backside. And based on her height/proportions in the standing pic, her legs are also to long in the lying pose.

I love the grass.... it must have taken you hours upon hours.
Well, my only critique would be her leg, I think its perfectly done but it takes too much attention from her face and the center of the picture, why don't you try mixing it with the black silouetes of the trees or something. I hope you understand what I mean. Oh, and the other thing that bugs me is the alice on the bottom, I can't tell where she is looking at. I really like the blue frames too.

Ah cheers! Awesome crits, i'll work on them all today. The deadline is later today or tomorrow i think.

Chuck: The idea is that all the tea party guests, like in the book, are stuck at 6 0'Clock, perpetual tea time. I wanted to represent them kind of like stone statues to push the feeling that they're very ummmm, static? I hope that shows through.

Firefly: Yeah, you're right, and it doesn't match when compared to bottom alice. I'll fix it up.

Auramante: Bottom alice is kinda looking past the viewer out of frame, i wanted to put some kind of reference to the fact that she continues moving on through the story.

'stoph: i just gave here 'subtle' blue eyes, i think it does compliment the blue characters and the frame well. I'll continue playing with her face.

thanks all
