Hello.
This is my first post to this forum. I finished up a degree in transportation design last December and now I'm doing freelance concept design work for videogames. Anyway, tell me what you think of the spaceship rendering below done in Painter. The second image has thumbnail sketches including the one that this rendering was based on. Also, take a look at my new website (http://www.brendonmackay.com) and tell me what you think of it.

Regards - Brendon

hey brendon---nice vehicle designs on your sight--and i liek the design of this one too--good stuff

just a question--if this ship is chrome or whatever where is the green coming from? is there something green in the sky---or does the metal have green in it? looks a little off

Good stuff though--keep posting-----ty

I agree with ELWOOD. I really like your website because it's clean, it's clear and easy to navigate. Plus your designs are pretty interesting :) By the way, your unicycle (http://www.brendonmackay.com/images/veh1_full/veh08.jpg) reminds me of an anime I watched yesterday called Venus Wars.
Anyways, again, really good job on the portfolio.

thanks for the responses.

Tyboogie - to your question. My intent was that the body surface be a green "supershiny" surface. I didn't mean to suggest that it's chrome and reflecting green back from the atmosphere. That said, my education has been in designing cars. It's fairly typical for car designs to be rendered in a stylized way. Now that I'm doing this I'll need to learn to render/paint more realistically. Any suggestions on how you'd make this rendering more believable would be great.

thanks - Brendon

well im not sure how you would paint a ship that is green chrome--i guess the blue/white highlights would have alittle green in them? as opposed to just being green parts and then blue sky reflections ( on wing and main foreground nose)

but at this point it doesnt look like the ship is made out of a green colored metal--because of teh blue, white highlight reflections that make it look like its regular chrome that is reflecting the sky around it

just a thought

chrome/metal has a lot more contrast, but....
