[ There are flies buzzing around... ]

[ rocky soil... ]

[ The animal has long toothy ridges behind folds of lip, four stocky legs, warty blobs here and there, and is twisting as it rises from an interrupted slumber. ]

[ So speaketh the oracle. ]

Done while listening to a lecture.
ıt's good to be able to draw while listening or how would one bear with university life?

The IchiColoncaeth, or Deepmaw as the locals call it, is a huge creature, but is a harmless beast, living in dirty underground pools, feeding off the muck, this creature also has little worth as game. Unfortunetly, Vurgen Jries, the Nordeurth adventurer, dosen't know all this, and is about to enter a very ungratifying buisness.

Bit of a rush job because ugly creatures just aren't my thing :) Great description though, no guesswork involved! This one is mainly a cave-dweller, killing small animals when necessary and feeding off the rotten corpses of larger ones. I spent about 45 minutes on it.

Hamsta I like the barbarian with warhammer but it's a bit hard to make out the creature details.
lemur Interesting concept - I like the wall climbing idea.
Sawa Ha! Cute :) Good job.
simmi Love it - he's fat and cool. Nice work!
Asoir Cute is good! I like the flies :)

+Dodge- Loved the way you color your work, just like old cartoons. Can you enlighten us about how you achieved this effect?
+Amerasu-You have stopped sending dsgs for a week or so I was starting to get worried about you.Very nice work with cool coloring of textures and light. Maybe the monster could be studied once more. It's body is very fine but its eyes just don't look right.
+Sawa- Reminded me Denver the last dinasour? Nice cartoonish look: ı like it.
+charge-Very dynamic!
+Hamsta- Your posts are always full of fresh ideas. I would feel that some thing is wrong if I don't see one of your submissions in dsg. But this time its even very hard to see what you have done. Maybe you'd like to adjust colors and contrast a bit?

Thanks for the comments, Lemur. You're right, those eyes are wonky and weird and I could definitely do more creature studies. I have to force myself to do more ugly stuff as I'm usually attracted to warm and fuzzy (and the dreaded fantasy too). I'm back for semi-regular DSGs again. I had in-laws for a week and they kept me busy >:D

Asoir - like yours, it looks very dizzy
simmi - great work, lovely, dirty style
sawa - nice pic, very relaxed, could be an illo for a fairytale
lemur - nice sketch, good pose
hamsta - love the idea, but as Amerasu said, a little too dark
Amerasu - nice comic style, although his food reminds me of poo (but that's just me:))
charge - brilliant pic, this is awesome, especially like the pink skintones, so piggy
dodge - like the comicstyle and the hard contrast
Baaaah! - brilliant pencil-sketch, the tongue is excellent
Inkfish - nice work on the face, rest is a bit too vague in my eyes
homeworld - I love your work. this one's magnificent as usual. like the way you deal with light
Simonl - good work. partially too blurry but he just looks sooo wet'n'itchy, like it

so here's mine, shame on me I forgot the tongue...

Ok, Ok, I get it, too damn dark, but it's a good way to hide stuff when you're lazy ;)

demdike I like this as a whole, it has a very classical feel for it, like a sketch of a real life cat or something. Nice job on detailing the head in particular, nice focal point there, even the bg helps it, although it might have been nicer to see some more effort other than a standard gradient.

lemur is this your working size? it's way to small to look at, not to mention work. I can see you're just beginning, my stuff was similar before starting to take more seriously, so keep at it. Your monster has some anatomy issues, mainly in it's very uncomfortable pose (it's a very humanoid creature.)
The lineart is slightly better in depth, and it dosen't have that very saturated pink, which is quite an eyesore.
finally, small nitcpics - trashcan is too, while the lid is too small, and isn't in a probable position. The creatures hands are too small (again, b/c it's so human) and the way the bricks sort of stop on the right side attracts too much attention.

Amerasu Your creature is licking poo. I like the upper half of your pic, lol, the better parts of the creature, the bg and the lighting are nice up there. The bottom part is where stuff get's messy. The akward pose, the lack of ground shadow, the sketchiness of the rock formation which clashes somewhat with the creature, and did I mention the poo? :P
Those hooves with toes crack me up, it's just so wierd

Hamsta+ you have named all the defects I found in my own work. But unfortunatly I cant seem to get over these mistakes just because I m not skilled enough and I ve never studied anatomy and wont have the chance to before my school is off for a vacation. But anyway I'll keep on posting and disturbing people with my lack of skill because WHAT THE HELL DRAWING MAKES ME FEEL GOOD! :^^: By the way thanks for your comments I m waiting for some more on following dsgs.:hatsoff:
