View Full Version : DSG 908: Sci-Fantasy: CENTAUR'S BODY IS OPENED, REVEALING MECHANICAL INNARDS

So, this is not to be a robot that resembles a centaur in some loose way... Rather it is to be a robot that actually looks like the mythological creature, living and breathing, except that it's true nature is cyber, not bio.

What are the circumstances of the body being open? Well, that's up to you.
Could be for repairs or check-up by technicians, could be damage from a battle, might be a kind of autopsy by other beings from mythos, or maybe the Centaur is voluntarily revealing it's secret to someone...

Right, my second post.. spent way too much time on this, but I just couldn't tear myself away... Any comments are welcome, but go easy, very new here :)

Background perspective traced from photo, the rest my creation. Adobe Photoshop used, wet brushes...

Mr. Hand why did you choose such a hard one? Even Goran (consider this no offense. I m indeed a fan of yours, your dsg submissions are all very inspiring works.) couldn't depict the centaur's lower body. Its real tough to draw horses.

Nicknamed the Centaur, due to it's resemblence to the mythical creature, this is an example of the type of bioengineering done by the xenoform invaders, and while it shows some interesting abilities, it certainly isn't invincible.
painter, yup, still lazy on this 20 min or so effort.

Homeworld how do you manage to come up with a suprising idea every day? You are so cool.

Here is my daily desperate try for improving my skills;

I tried real hard to put a hamster wheel inside the thing, complete with hamster, but alas, too many details that get muddled up. I focused instead on the horror stuck face..kinda like he's waking up into a nightmare.

Great job all!

Lemur: Nice idea, but maybe some reference would help? The multiple perspectives and weird proportions are what's keeping this from being convincing. Keep it up- nothing makes you a better artist than sheer mileage.

llothcat: Love the facial expression and the figure is pulled off nicely, especially for such an intricate pose. The right hand seems a little off. I dunno though- someone tell me if it's just my art education and too much Georgia O'Keefe, but when I first saw this the first thing I thought of was "Giant Green Centaur Vagina"... maybe it's the splayed legs? lol! :jawdrop:

let me know what you guys think :teeth:

Manimalle - I like very much this gnom character, I like his concentrated face. The second thing - this scene is natural and both gnom and centaur aren't stiff. They have nice poses.

Andrew many thanks for your comments I ll try to re-draw this one using a referance and paying more attention to the set up of the scene if I could spare some time. And about the "giant centaur vagina thing" I got the same impression at first but after realizing what a difficult task Ilothcat over came with the perspective and anatomy I suddenly changed my mind. It's surely way higher than my level.
