seaside....entertaintment... (right got it) ...paviliion..hmmmm (damn - that makes it tricker....)
In the concepting of a design brief....intepretation can produce interesting results: For example
1/ pavilion - large and often sumptuous tent
2/ in the English language (derived from French, "pavillon") can refer to any structure large or small, however there is usually a connection with relaxation and pleasure. A sports pavilion is usually a building adjacent to a sport's ground used for changing clothes, and often partaking of refreshments. Often it has a verandah to provide protection from the sun for spectators.
maybe a good styled french pavilion - which was a piece of cloth streched across a small shapped hut with a deck chair underneath)
3/A medieval tent, usually round, characterized by numerous supporting ropes and often bright decoration formed from alternating colors or by painted decor
4/ From the Latin papilio=butterfly. Originally the word meant a tent, in gardens it is used for an airy and light building
I reckon for our purposes - if you took the modern day interpretation - it woudl be a massive seaside resort -like complex with a central pavillion like structure
If you went back 50 years, it would be the french style set of pavillions (i.e a row of beach huts with cloths strewn across to as as sun shade)

I think in the intitial thread, and the statements that this forum would be similar to C.O.W., you could take any one of those descriptions and paint away. I believe the wording of the assignment is such, that it allowing us to pick, choose and create.
Personally I chose massive structure thingy.

"Normally, on beautiful day like today, the arena sections would be open to the sea so that the crowds could gather and watch the yacht races. But today was something new. A new being, from the outer rim, man I believe they are called, are racing beasts. Sometype of beast of burden. Magnificant as if carved from stone. Fast as the wind and as if they made thunder themsleves as the force their way around the stadium. What kind of being would sit astride something like this"?

Rivaling all but the largest of poop decks, this futuristic ballroom set upon a small peninsula, accented by several canopies. The three large solar panels on the roof power the interior floodlights that turn on at dusk.

The world surrounded by fear of opposing threats of nuclear war. The government installed anti aircraft defense systems around the coasts of the continent to protect its inhabitians. Beachs remained open for visitors and entertainment, yet still overlooked with military structures.

Seaside entertainment pavillion destroyed in storm....
http://helen.pootle.net/other/Upload/POSTED/seaside-pavillion-3.jpg
The new pavillion at Silver Sands was destroyed in last weeks' tropical storm Raoul. The recently completed pavillion was wrecked by the storm, despite its 'weatherproof' design by city engineers, local resident Mr. Sandford today spoke of local people's oppostion to the island scheme, "we toll'em t'weren't no good t'build on't south side.. tis t'wind see". Officials declined to comment.

Decided to go a little more fantastical with it.
Yes, those are giant serpents, unfortumately I feel it's too scattered and and dark.
Well, you live and learn...and cry.

That's gorgeous! Really beautifully colored, if it wasn't for that Orange roof it won't hold otgether, but it, juxtaposed with the overwhelming blue to the right, somehow wraps everything up.
Pootle Very nice also, expressive clouds add to the scene very well. Only crit I have is tthat the actual wreckage could have been worked in a little more on the underside, maybe somewhat stronger shadows, for a more direct contrast.

The Eastgarden Pavillion is well known for its great ambience and enjoyment facilities. It is located at the Korean east coast offering thus a pleasing combination of indoor and outdoor entertainment attractions including the supersonic-speedboat races and a visit to the magnificent “Aquatiqua”, the underwater theme park.
Koshime: nice architecture!
Pootle: cool idea!
