These are 3 "classes" from diablo 2, It's not 100% fan art because i redesigned the characters to how i wanted them to look.
I didn't "finish" because this is 1:1 and i just got kinda sick of it... but here is where i am leaving it.
PALADIN - NECROMANCER - AMAZON

I learned alot from the piece and now i am starting another fanart, here:
DRUID(Wearbear form; work in progress)

great stuff, I like the subtle tones you used on the zon and the nec, and the glow on the pali (oh those holier then thou palis....grrr ^_^ )
Yes...ah yes, how many hours of my life did that dang game waste?

Nice! I really like the looks of that werebear so far. Very "believable". One thing comes to mind,, not a crit actually, just an observation.. I don't know what the original character looks like but the bears are plantigrade, so I think the legs would look more human even in werebear form. But what do I know about werethings. Finish him. :chug:

The bear is fantastic. By far my favorite piece from you. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Nice work, d. I love the colors and posing/design, especially the Paladin. Very cool. The atmosphere and chunky, solid colors are great too. I'd actually like to see less black outlines on more of your stuff , or maybe just thinner ones. I think maybe some harsher lighting on the edges of the characters would make them pop out a lot more...say, if you added a hard yellowish edge on the Paladin to contrast with his black shadows..might look cool. Anyhow, this all kicks ass. Love the bear, too.

really awesome Davi, Its nice to see you make a departure from the heavy black outlines to more painterly shapes sttrokes and values.

El Chief: Yeah i wanted her to seem kind off in her own world. This is painter7
BoBo_the_seal: thanks man! are you the same bobo the seal that does quake3 skins?
brasshorsekiller: I was trying to remove all black outline but since i worked in 1:1 i kept having to come back to the black to show form. I just realized i didn't post the last verison of this image O_O
Android: I based it off a short thrusting sword, in diablo2 the paladin looks so lame with long looking swords, so i tried keeping it short :)
thanks everyone for your opinions!
Here's the last verison, i posted the wrong url before,

not many changes as you can see but i add alittle bit more magic to the amazon's arrow and i gave the paladin his "aura". hope you like it :P

This is how i started the piece, very loose and with white on a dark background, for some reason i find it easier to sketch with white, alot easier to just suggest, I get crazy with details when using black on a white bg, i think it might be easier since i like to bring the lighter colors from the black... i know someone told me that's the easiest way to do things, i think i read it in joe chodo's art book.. anyways:

Great stuff Davi - I say we petition the folks at Blizzard to hire you to do the next series!
I noted that you dropped in your initial sketchwork - planning on making this a step-by-step?
Pretty please?

i've really wanted to work for blizzard on diablo3 character designs for years now, if they were to ask i would move in a second.
here are some more of the play by play:

i changed the paladin because of a paintover and suggestions from HardcorepixxX, the told me a few very importrant things. I made the paladin tall, but i didn't do his anatomy right, in reality his feet would be about 2-3 feet off the ground, so he pointed that and also told me that if you change the axis of the head from the torso it gets a more dramatic feel to it.
this is kind of odd posting new then old... usually to see a thread develope the other way around.

here is the updated bear. I got lost in stylation with the band hand... i'll big the smaller one larger and the huge one some what smaller... the right foot needs to be strengthened as well.... any comments are welcome.

Freaken awesome bear!!! One nitpick, the belly fur color and his right leg color seem to need either a blend, or something to make them work together, maybe just a hint of the warmer brown(the kinda mustard one) in the seam there. Besides that you need a huge print for your port:)

This seems a little blasphimous since your color skills are (roughly) 897,587,549,875,490,840,984,309 times what mine are... but I noticed that the color shift here seemed a bit dramatic - causing the hip to look sort of dislocated.
(I _really_ hope you don't mind...)

Davi these are great man. The bear is really nice. but I'd have to agreee with 'droid; the short sword is weak. maybe add a little style to the blade/hilt shape.

i love the tones and mood of your work.. the one thing i think it lacks though is detail.. design, give the charcters armor/ clothing more history. even scuff marks and gashes from a battel or something... yet i always feel like dumb critisizing when im far from perfect and everyone has there own style but the subtle details really make a picture, and i think would really make yours come to life...
:chug: cheers
