Under the System Requirements for this they should mention the 300 bucks. :)

Which I will pay gladly...as soon as I can scrape it together.

wow, it has this awesome feature, check it out:

"Create sketches from photographs – use the new Sketch Effect to easily convert photographs to simple pencil drawings while controlling the amount of paper grain, the heaviness of the pencil line and the desired level of detail "

im glad they mentioned this one.

 Please let it have a sensible option for the users with two monitors ...I didnt even manage to get something decent out of Painter 7 ... or maybe I should first buy a Wacom instead of updating ...

Too much input ... shutdown ...

Upgrade works for users of Photoshop 5-7 and Painter Classic? Cool. I think I'll be buying this.

Well we will see if they heard the cries for the old watercolor brushes! They can keep the new but for gods' sake don't change something that does not need changed or completely thrown out.

Here's the address to the interactive tour for Painter 8. You may want to turn off the background music going through the tour. Painter 8 Interactive Tour (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel/Products/productInfo&id=1047021764853)

JOSHUATHEJAMES: dude, amen to that! the painter 6 watercolor brush was my standard midtone wash brush since it was semi transparent and even. nothing in 7 even imulates it. ive been pissed about that.

Where did procreate go?

procreate was a great way for Corel to re-energize its image in the creative professional space – and it absolutely worked! The procreate campaign created exceptional awareness of our products and our capabilities as design software experts, specifically in the Mac community. We will be capitalizing on the Corel brand going forward and continuing to create professional products that have great new features and help our customers create exceptional design work. KPT and KnockOut 2, key products in the Corel line-up, will proudly bear the Corel name in the following months.

Looks to me like they thought "hey - they won't take the Corel brand seriously, so let's make a new brand name and fool them that way".... ?

Since the strategy worked, they return to using the Corel name(not that it was a secret that it was a Corel branch though, but...).

PS: LOOKING AT THE SYSTEM SPECS, IT SEEMS THAT THIS VERSION WILL NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH EARLIER WINDOWS VERSIONS, LIKE WIN98 OR WINME; ONLY WIN2K AND WINXP.

(Sorry about the caps, but I thought it would be important to know for some people. Personally I use XP though).

I tried the Painter 7 demo, but couldn't really get into it. I guess it's because I'm used to Photoshop. At this price though, and since all the pros here are using it, I think I'll give it a try.

Im excited for the mixer. That is one thing i really wished 7 had. I had the worst times trying to figure out what colors to sue since i couldnt mix paint!!

looks great though! :)

davi

i dont completely understand the mixer, since if you just lower the opacity and brush hardness you can mix some paints easily like the oil pastel :\

I wonder if they're going to get sued by Adobe like Macromedia was in reguard to it's UI.. I'm glad Corel got the message that their interface was difficult to get used to.
I also wished Photoshop had the same colour mixer Painter has.....

I want 8 now, it seems so much easier than 7! I go insane how annoying the interface is

davi

Adobe and corel have teamed up on serveral levels for painter 8, they won't be sued.

Wow, an Adobe style tool bar and a Photoshop 7 style option bar at the top. Those screenshots are so bizarre--even the tool palettes are arranged on the right side like an Adobe program.

This is so weird and yet so beautiful.

"Special educational version will be available for 99 dollars" That's a sweet price...I'm definitely gonna get that.
