Recently I've been trying to bring out my Japanese half more in my work, and this is the result.
It's also the first picture I've done entirely digitally...

the mood and tension of the main female character is quite extrodinary, you have definately captured a complicated moment of indecision and balance, the pose really evokes the emotions of a thinking character and that is not an easy thing to comunicate.

hey Gez,
Is your site brand new? I can't remember if you have had it up since your last post?

strange coming from a partially colorblind person, but your colors are beautiful too, they're real soft and they caught my eye right away.

foster: That means a huge deal to me. Your work is a real inspiration, so the fact that you enjoyed my picture made me really happy! :)
Android: Coming from such a brilliant concept artist that's a great compliment. I'm so glad you liked the girl's pose, since she was the part of the picture I most enjoyed working on.
ChadTHX1138: Cheers mate. The site was designed by me and my friend Nick at www.declension.net (blatant advertising:eek: )
Lono: cheers
Yaseck: thanks man
harrigton: that's a nice thing to say - thanks
JohnM: Thanks a lot for the praise - I really enjoyed your Orcs thread. It was informative too, since computer games and comics are the two fields I most hope to work in.
davi: cheers
JOSHUATHEJAMES: Yeah, it's new (up since Tuesday). I'm working on them updates :)
Ark: thanks a lot - the colours were fun to do

This is quite nice as the others have said :) I like the colors and the style. However, I always try to write some sort of crit when I reply so here it goes:
The guys sitting at the back seems a bit too small perspective-wise perhaps. Also, I'd make the inner lines thinner than the outer ones (in most of the cases). Lineweight is a subject to the 'hierarchy of importance' and the silhuette (outline) is the most important (again, generally speaking). It's just minor details like the wrist bands, belt, and the white top that looks a bit too fat. Also, I think it works better with thinner lines on white things. The guy at the back seem to have a bit too fat inner lines too.
Anyone agree/disagree?

I appologive for being an opinionated fool, but I think that her eyes don't really convey thought, it's just the strong lower half of her that is suggesting it, and the viewer is left to make up the rest. She is looking at Camera(or rather viewer) and her eyes are such the light color that we can easily make up what we see. I think pupils and a further along or back pose(talking about the top half of body, waist up, initailly testing the water or catching herself from going in. the waist down looks great.) could leave more to be said by the artist, but of course you would loose the veiwer's imagination thingy you have going on.
That being said, awesome drawing, great painting! I did your anime influence, post more!

Thanks for the comments guys. Prometheus, I see what you're getting at - I could have done with thinning out some of the lines on the t-shirt for sure. I'm wary of over-emphasizing outlines though, because you run the risk of ending up with a kind of cardboard cutout effect. :) About the perspective, bear in mind that this is a fairly exaggerated one to give an impression of distance.
Dustin, I'm going to have to disagree (and you can call me opinionated too ;) ) - her eyes are looking down, rather than at the viewer. I agree that her expression is blank, as opposed to one of fear, but the way I see it that's because she's almost considering dropping off the edge. Thanks for the compliments too mate.

ha i thought it looked like work from the guy who did 'Starside.' I like your fusion style. Something that doesnt get pulled off well very often.
You got a good knack for color and clothing design. Her pants rule.
If it was at i higher res you could show her facial expression better, but i still like it.
This kicks ass.:clapping1

Love the color scheme, it really looks greate and I think the pose on the girl is really nice. You can definately tell she's balancing on the edge. Nice Job.

Cellbound - I'm glad you remembered starside! About the res, I did this at A4@400dpi, so some deatails are lost. I actually spent a while designing a graffiti tag for her headset, but you can't really see it :mumble: (should be OK when I print it though).
wood - thanks!
