Hi gang, longtime lurker here.

Getting reacquainted with Painter and reading through Don Seegmiller's wonderful new book. Thanks Don! That book (and the awesome art I see on these forums) has inspired me to pick up the Wacom again.

Here's a self-portrait I did in Painter 7. Took about 2.5 hours. I used a photo as reference but didn't scan it. C&C welcome.

I'll post more a few more paintings over the coming week.

The textures and edges look really nice especially on the back wall.

the modeling and shading is done pretty well, but the whole piece is a bit too dark. I think if the background was a little lighter, it would make the portait staind out more. Like if you could see the contrast between your hair and the shadow behind it.

Your face? My condolences. :D

The corner of the mouth shadow is a bit too long, and unless you're an alcoholic, the nose looks too red, like you accidentally mixed background color into the skin color rather than did red lighting.
