I like nothing about my work this time, seems like its way too early to use computer. By the way any body remember Biots from Arthur C. Clarke's RAMA?

A real live tank, the Monysian rifle beetle has an evolutionary wonder on it's back, a sophisticated biological gun, aiding in hunting and defense, and with an ability to change the make up of it's ammunition according to external changes.

After crashing their van into a coffee stand and losing a valuable stash of plutonium, the Libyans were forced to cut costs on their new vehicle...

Herbie the Gun Bug.
Used a ref for the car itself.
Good stuff all around so far!

I just got my WACOM tablet on Saturday and I'm trying to learn how to use it and Photoshop CS2. This is my first official post on www.conceptart.org.
Time: Approx 4 1/4 hours.

:scribble: Blue Tiger, I dont know if I get it, but I certanly think its awesome. I love that style, you should work for a dictionary company.
Is it a tazer type weapon?

Blue Tiger, I assume that you squeeze the legs of the insect and it... apparently zaps, pops or shoots it's head off?

This is my dragon fly rifle with zoom scope :)
There was much more that can be done with this, but i really got into this sketch and started focusing so much. This may turn into something that I'll work with more. I really enjoy this one quite a bit.
I want to enhance the scaling effect on with some darker over lap. Also I want to get some specular highlights on the scales. What other recommendations do you guys/gals have?

MonkeyYoakum - Glad you like it, wish it was more clear as to what it is...As far as your piece goes, I like it, I would consider changing the red-lined
sidewalk and building so that the vanishing point is much lower on the page, right now that part seems out of place with the rest
Moquan - That's pretty much what I was going for, more on the zapping side...Nice job on your first official post, good choice on color scheme, and the idea is pretty solid.
Vijil - I really dig that style, the concepts great as well.
Squeevey - Just watch out with the foreground wings blending in with the body, Also I'd suggest adding some specular to the eyes to imply a compound eye

Nice concept Hobbes_Maxwell! There's one thing missing though... they're aren't any shadows on the ground!

dindon - i'm guessing that his gun bug is probably in the foreground and the rest of the objects are in the background.

mmh ... just realized that I should've cut off the bottom part of my pic. The background doesn't add anything to my gun-bug ...
