This was an assignment where I was to think about the "line of action". What do you guys think?

even though the scene is very active, the characters still look static.. ..they dont have much life to them. you also need to study anatomy because some of the porportions and muscles are off. not a bad drawing though.. .keep it up!

Yea, my instructor thought that this was my weakest piece in my whole portfolio. You see, he gave me the freedom to draw a fantasy drawing of whatever i want, so I got excited by scared at the same time because i can draw whatever i want and it has to be good. When I was started working on it I guess i was too worked up on having it be "presentable" so I penciled ever so slowly then inked over ever so carefully. Too carried away that I didn't realize it till it was too late. Sigh*
Thanks. Anybody have anything else to say about it?

I can see the vision you were going for and the lines are really clean. I tend to agree with metalwinds. The anatomy in this pic is off. Anatomy is one of the hardest and most frustrating things to learn...I am in the midst of learning now...so hard to draw in perspective. I can see life behind this drawing. Really hit anatomy and perspective hard and I think that will allow you a lot more freedom with your drawing. Some of the conceptual elements in this are good...the armor and stuff...but if the anatomy isn't perfect it totally detracts from everything else. Keep drawing and definitely keep posting.

I think the anatomy is the main problem here. Try to study on that and the proportions will get right by themselves. There some really good books on anatomy out there. I suggest you take a look at http://fineart.sk
Choosing a different camera angle might make things more dynamic too. Now it's more like a streetfighter style camera angle. Perhaps if the camera was more behind the guy who's kicking you'll get the sense of the line of action. Because the camera is on the kicking direction.
Then it's even possible to use some exagerated perspective proportions to blow things up a bit.
I hope this is any help to you and i the things i said where clear.
If this was the weakest i'm curious to see some of your other work because it shows potential.
cheers. :)

=] Thanks alot gray, the dynamic part is another big problem i have.
The good thing is that I'm starting life drawing and anatomy this quarter and am gonna have to get $80 worth of anatomy books....
By the way, the quality of this dwg is messed cuz its a really big dwg and i had to merge like 6 images together... First time i ever tried but i'm sure it'll be alot better next time.
