im starting to get the feeling that people dont respond much to pencil drawings. .. ..i dont have a tablet yet, so im lacking in the color dept, but could anyone tell me what size tablet i need? i heard that you can buy a small one and that still works great, but i just figured that id ask.. ...also looking for criticism... ... .

This section is a bit slow on the reply side.

I think it's okay looking. Pencil hatching looks good. No major proportional error. The frontal pose makes it a bit boring to look at though.
The arms may be a tad short (or thick). On the face, you've rubbed the lines a bit too much. The face is a delicate thing and must be rendered carefully and preferably with clean lines.

@metal:

i am a total noobie to digital painting myself, but before i bought an a4 intuos i had the smallest size tablet (a6) and i think it's not worth a cent. you cant paint on a postcard transferring your strokes to a 21" monitor.

i like your sketch. the torso is a bit too short, that's probably why the arms are too. also women usually do not have noses that broad.

thanks for the crits guys.

prom: thanks for mentioning how boring the picture is. lately ive been so focused on character design that my pictures have lost the intensity they used to have. .. .maybe thats partially why i dont get many responses. .. the pictures are just too.. .boring

retro: now that i look at it the torso is a little small, which is why the arms are too. thanks for the response regarding the tablet, but one last thing.. . .its not a woman.. .. .

I got a Wacom A4 myself. It's a tad big in the lap but OK.

I guess when you do designs you have to stick to boring/simple views though, that way you have to make sure you draw all the details and don't hide things behind an arm or pillar/ whatever. Perhaps a neutral front view and an action view per character is the way to go...

alright danny, sorry it took me a little while to respond to your post
about the pic being boring, dont worry like prom said it kinda has to be, the design is supposed to carry the pic i suppose, i dont know how much a crazy flipped out pose matters when the design is on point
now as far as the tablet goes, there is alot to keep in the back of your mind
ultimately we are college students and that means the a4 is out of the question
personally i do all of my stuff on the smallest tablet and i think it works perfectly, i dont notice a difference when i hop on the big ones, it all takes getting used to whatever you are on
its always easy to find something wrong with what you have, some people say teh small ones are too small or the big ones are too big so it really comes down to trying them out
but rememer that teh cheapest and littlest ones are still wacom and still get the job done and besides it beats the hell out of a mouse
chris
now off to draw ill post soon

Lemme guess, you've never done archery. Those sleeves are ridiculous on an archer, and the bandoiler isn't exactly condusive to shooting a bow either. They'd all get in the way bigtime.

Otherwise, decent enough image.

I always support pencil drawing myself, and your picture overall look ok to me ~

The problem is, Like Vaarok said, the sleeves are not good for the archer. And I can't figure it out why the shirt looks like twisted 3 times?

thanks for the comments guys.. . .i ll do something with the sleeves and the bandolier. i thought about how functional the sleeves were when i was drawing it, but because i dont really know archery i put them in anyway.
getata: the shirt isnt twisted around 3 times (i thought people might think that), there is actually rope/string(ish) thing that tightens part of the fabric, and what looks like the twists is the rope tied around him.
