Here's my offering.

http://www.geocities.com/reeleend/DARKONE.JPG

I over shrank mine a little today, one day I'll get the size right.
So far these entries look really cool. I know there's only three but...hell. I love the mist effect on lemurs. It's really simple but works really well.
The more I look at Jakub Sudras the more I like it, funny, quirky, interesting etc! Very nice tones and things. (see how this almost looks like I know what I'm talking about? Only almost!)
I'd like to see your finished picture SimoSK8, seems like there's potential in it!

Despite his fearful appearance, Mezzab'elath is a fair land lord, using his mighty visage to drive his subjects to work harder and better, to the benefit of everyone.

goran Thanks. It's simple because I'm lazy and I like the lazy simple style.
I always enjoy your works, I think that you have a quite well developed style and you know your tools. In this image I like the mountains and the wings the most. The whole monster is ok, just not amazing. Do you make your works in greyscale and then colour them, or is it just here? The colour scheme is not bad, but the colouring method doesn't appeal to me too much.
CrazyHarij Nevermind the horns! Where's the "spread wide" and "misty mountain"? The whole situation is very unclear.
Kveldulf Nice clouds. The monster is not bad, just not detailed enough, same as the mountain which lacks any texture. And the wings are uneven. Not that it matters very much, but it could emphase the "spread wide" part.
Hamsta You're better than a couple weeks ago, I think, but this piece doesn't show it that much. I think you still spend too little time on your works. On the good side, the background is interesting. Also it's kind of mysterious.
Yaso Kuuhl nice composition, form. I like the motion in this work. Main crit would be about the unispiring form of the wings.
flcl Thanks for the nice words. I always pay much attention to the aesthetical side of my works, like the colours. That's one interesting creature. Only that the piece doesn't look very nice, more like a first sketch. You should include some shading to define the shapes (many od your penstrokes in the shading look quite random), at least set the values quickly.
SimoSK8 Finish it. Paint the mist pouring through the gaps under the wings. Show that the character has much power, it would fit the theme nicely.
lemur The same as for flcl - you should lay down some values and if you make the shading, the lines should define the shape in some way. Or just make the whole thing solid black and white. Could look nice, the composition is ok. I don't like the flatness of the mountain top too much, but maybe it fits here, I don't know.
dindon heh, thank you :)

Plan on inking and reposting results in a bit.
Twenty minutes or so in pencil.
I need to fix the wings, but any critique would be appreciated.

artdwx- Awesome. Watercolor with pen outline is one of my favorite ways to work, so I'm a sucker for your kind of stuff. Looks like he's going to fall over though- I would not envy being in that pose for any length of time.

Great work all around on this topic, even if a lot of them are Jakub Sudra's "lazy simple style". I only wish I had time to contribute!

Had company all day yesterday and so didn't get to post or even get into my studio.

I did have a black ink pen and some paper though and used some travel time to sketch.

Here is about 45 mins of pen and ink.

Trying out a new style.....I think it's working....It's really just an excuse for laziness...but look for it in future DSGs. Maybe I can like refine it or something. I dunno. It's 2AM. Lordy.

llothcat I'm glad you like it. I have to say that I really don't like the frame/logo thing you have there, it is very eyecatching and distracts from the good things in the actual work. I think what you've done with the rocks is great. The demon has anatomy issues, I think you could either make it more realistic, or go completely wild and distort the anatomy more, making it a style rather then a mistake.
BG looks too mechanical to me, but it can be a good base.

Jakub Oops, forgot you gave me a crit, and I should return the favor.
I'm defenitly seeing your style, and you're taking it further then you used to. A fresh look at things with the childish approach, the rocks and sun look a little overworked, and steal some attention from the characters, which should be the main focus, despite not appealing to my personal taste - they look like something a child with violence issues might come up with.

Thanks for the comment Hamsta. Yeah, the misty rocks may steal a bit too much attention. I don't know about the "child with violence issues" part, they're just numbers with horns and wings :) .
