Hey everybody, I figured I may as well throw Columbus into the mix. I'm a grad of the Columbus College of Art and Design, and finding meeting places/groups for post grads to talk about illustration with has been daunting. I'm also looking to find some life drawing sessions, however I don't want to enroll in a college class. Just something once a week to come and sit and draw for a couple of hours. Any body else out there from columbus?

yah, I attended my first two years at CCAD - then transfered up here to Cleveland. I've been going to a pay-as-you-go life drawing class up here that the Cleveland Institute of Art holds once a week. $15 for two hours.
You might want to see if CCAD does something like that. If not... tell them to get their asses on it!! Don't let them feed you any shit about attendance - I tried putting together my own drawing class (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47897) and it only took a few posts on here to find a group willing to join. We even had a model.
Anyway, I know it can be frustrating - good luck!

Hey Jmil. I graduated from CCAD way back in 96. I'd love to get a group together to talk about and do some art and getting some life drawing sessions together would be great.
I know at least one other CCAD grad who may be interested too.
Feel free to message or email me.

I am in no way affiliated with CCAD (other than I applied), but I would definitely like to meet some people to draw with. I live about an hour south of Columbus, so yeah, that's all.
Oh yes, I know several CCADians who would most definitely be interested.

I know 2 people who'd be interested in getting a drawing group together. I'll talk to them today and see what times are best for them. Let me know what time's best for you and those you know Dead Road and we'll see if we can get something together.

I think this would be fun also, although I'm in the middle between Cleveland and Columbus.

Whereabouts exactly Toxic? We could always try for weekend afternoons. Those are best for me usually anyway.
It'd be nice to rent a space and hire some models for figure drawing, but we should figure out who's down and what time is best for everyone.

Shyza. I forgot to check this thread, but yes I will most definitely doing that right...now.
And weekend afternoons are awesome. I'm working third shift so generally weekdays are a no-go.

I'm a little tiny bit North of Mansfield. Weekend afternoons would be workable.

Yea, weekdays are pretty packed for me. I'll post again when I find out for sure from the couple guys I know. One of them works a wierd schedule, like 8 days on 6 days off. So maybe every other weekend might be a good idea since you two are out of town.
I told them to come up with some ideas of where, when and what to draw/do so any ideas you guys got start jottin 'em down.
A few ideas I have:
-get some people to model and draw from life
-maybe meet somewhere outdoors to draw building/environments

I'm about 2 hours south but if it's a weekend with plenty of advance notice I could make the trip for some drawing sessions.

Not sure if you guys are still interested in this. One of my buddies who would like to do this is pretty busy until the beginning of April so if anyone here still wants to get together a group for art related activities let me know and we can try to make plans for an initial get together somewhere around the middle of April.

I'd like to join in... I'm insanely busy until the second week of May though.

Hey nonie. I think me and the couple guys I know might start getting together some time after the middle of April. They're busy till then so if we get things going I'll post it here and we'll go from there.

Hey all you in central Ohio. Thought I'd bump this thread. Me and a buddy are going to start getting together to draw, and we want to get some concept art people out to join us. We are just gonna meet at the Panera @ 4519 North High St in Columbus. Maybe if we get a bunch of people coming out, we can get a more dedicated spot.
So, we are planning on being there on Saturday the 3rd at around 8pm. We'll be an asian guy and a white guy. I'll be the white guy and I'll wear my blue Dodgers hat to help stand out.
So come out and join us, I think it would be really freakin' sweet to get a regular group going on.

Yeah, sorry. We were talking and couldn't settle on a place until a couple days before hand. lol
We are planning on making a regular thing, though I think this Saturday is not on because of scheduling conflicts with my buddy. I think I will still go out and draw though, same place but 7pm instead.
But yeah. I'm gonna keep trying to do this and I will do better about posting in a timely fasion.
And I would frickin' love to do some plein air down in hocking! :)
p.s. I was just down in Athens today, small world.
