I'd love to go see this if school wasn't keeping me so busy.

Which pieces are yours?

Second row, middle picture, with the flying skull.
How many pieces of yours are in the show? The ones on the site aren't all of the entries to the show. Can you explain the image a little more?

Cool, wish I was in town. Roq La Rue is a great place. You should post it in the Washington sketchgroup section if you haven't already, they're always looking for something to do. :)

Hey all,

Yeah, the flying skull piece is mine, though the image on the site is a color study rough. The final is much more finished.

Madster, the image is a carry through of a piece that I favor doing when people ask for sketches at shows. I needed something that I could carry off quick and with a modicum of aplumb as I'm not really that good in the hole and my sketchbook doodles tend to be a far bit shittier than my finals. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to take that concept through to a final and so, voila, the painting. The banner across the bottom is a new addition. I needed something to weight/fill the bottom of the page and anything I could think of in a corporeal sense (e.g. buildings, trees, telephone poles...) would have made the skull look far closer to the ground than I had wanted. So, I came up with the banner. The fact that the word is censored out is based on the ideas that I didn't want to be blantently shocking, and with it so censored it ties in better with the title "The Issue With Angels", i.e. even though bad things happen to angels, they are too good to curse like the rest of us.

The show opening was amazing. Packed with great people and art. The show will be up for about a month, so any and all who wish to see it in person get down and take a gander.
