Here is an example of some of my acrylic work... this is a bad photo, need to get some professional works taken.

If the style looks familiar to some of you, well, my uncle was a famous sci-fi book cover artist (mostly the 50's and 60's) who inspired the hell out of me, so sorry. I can't help it.

i do not really understand how the surrealism plays its part in this picture, the elements fit too well together. it might be because you really have a flow and “accidentally” may have fitted the knots to well together, and therefore it did end up being a more abstract piece than a surreal one. it is very original thou.

i actually dislike the red contrast in the middle ground against the cold blueish background; which is really amazing and let’s your mind enter into a unique sci-fi world. the red draws the attention to the naked female body where the background only has a glimpse of shading of the red light. the white lines and symbols on the female body creates a dynamic together with the rocks floating around her, but i would actually want this picture to be calm so it fits together with the men in the background. it confuses the viewer if parts are really dynamic and some parts are not, especialy when you have to pay attention to the detailed background. if you seek the girl to be dynamic for the “lesson” in this picture i would advice you to put more weight on her and less on the background, again the background is simply to beautiful.

the deeper sense of the picture is hard to spot, but i would believe it had something to do with the woman being suppressed by society, she wants to break out and is willing to move rocks for this. while she is breaking out she is being watched by many eyes in the form of the eye shaped blobs, which could elaborate on my theory of society (big brother). the men standing in the background could me friends and family that has already been suppressed enough by the machine and therefore are not helping her.

bottom line of everything is that this is a great piece of work and i should watch my tongue for even reviewing it since i am nothing but a humble pixel artist. i do not know what your DIRECT source of inspiration is but i do figure that you have implanted parts of your own style in it. you have a very nice flow and you pay much attention to detail. great work!

Thanks, Dice, for the critique. Your explination of the piece is quite interesting. You see the objects in the piece as represtentational to somthing else. I love to hear other people's ideas of my work and what stories they come away with. This is the third and latest painting in a series of 5 works... so you are only seeing part of the 'picture', so to speak.

Surrealisim is the genre I am placing this work in. As they are currently on display at a gallery here in Long Beach, 'surrealisim' is a more appropriate term than 'sci-fi' (galleries tend to look down upon terms such as sci fi or fantasy regarding them as 'kitch' for some reason). :argue:

Here is another in the series:
