I would like some input on some art schools in chicago, illinois. Ive heard of the art institute of chicago, and columbus something. anyways, pretty vague as you can see. so
has anyone graduated/enrolled at a school in chicago?
whats the feel of the college? fineart? design?
anything else,
thanks in advance,

A friend of mine studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It is a very renowned school... many famouse people have come out of there, including Andy Warhol I believe. All I've heard from her are good things... and just incase you were wondering, it IS NOT affiliated with the chain of AI that are all over the country.

Also, unless my geography is worse than I remember, you could try for Clevland. (Is it way too far?) CIA is pretty good, 5 year course, good majors. It'd be pretty far, but still close to home, right?

why attend CIA when CCAD is just an hour away!?

CIA's changed a lot. Just cuz Wes went there doesn't mean its "all that" right now

The School of the Art Institute is really renowned...for fine arts crap. Like abstract, expressing yourself crap. Art snobs
heh

Andy Warhol came out of what is now Carnegie Mellon. He grew up in Pittsburgh. It used to be a technical college I believe too.

I know he went there, but IM not all OMGOMGWESBURT, but it has a 5 year course and a drawing major. As some of you know, Im a pencil fan. That's what I'm interested in. I'm smart enough now to know that the school doesn't make the artist. =P Of course I didn't know about it til Wes, but still.

well i looked at the ai of chicago, and yeh, too fineart for me. Im looking more into the illustration programs so i dunno. I have looked at ccad but im not that impressed by it. Im a pretty firm believer in what you put in is what you get out of it, but still. I dont really live that close to chicago, lol, i kinda had some girl reasons to go there :bashful: but oh well. thanks for the input guys,

I'm the friend that attends SAIC ... and right now i'm in the First year program its mandatory... but from what i've experienced at this school .. it feels like its a step ahead of other art school in most majors ... or the ones i've looked into and you never have to declare a major... and yes this school sometimes does base a lot on concept, but that is nothing since you make it whatever you want it to be ... i'm learning a lot but i guess it depends on what your looking for in a school ... :tihi:
