Hello, I am somewhat new, and have a few items that I would like to share with you all. Most pieces are watercolour and pencil with some sketches but I did include a few acrylic paintings for critique. My inspiration is a mix of genre and style and one piece in particular is an illustration for a short story I am in the process of finishing. Enjoy! I enjoyed working on them and look forward to finishing others, once I figure out how :^^:

that last castle is really great. i wouldn't have the stairs coming as straight at the viewer...maybe have them rise and fall more and vary the direction.

Michelle,

You've got some good stuff going on. Some of the water colors are a little light for my tastes, but that's more an issue with the medium I think. Your line work, by and large, is pretty good. The only thing that I'm seeing is some issues with proportion and a bit of stiffness in the character poses. Try grabbing some friends to model for you so you can see how a body actually holds itself as opposed to drawing from your head so much (it's hard not to, but it's good practice to always work from life when you can).

If you are like me and have no firends ( :P ) photos work as an acceptable substitute when necessary.

The two pencil portraits are especialy good.

Looking forward to more! And welcome to the sketchbook section!

cheers,
~Oreg.

Hello, Michelle. Very nice book. I like your choice of colors and themes. Your work and its general mood made a strong association for me with the Pre-Raphaelites.

My favorites are 2,5,6, the last one ( that one is gorgeous. I'll save it for me, okay :)?)

These rock the mic! Seriously, I hadn't seen these before, and out of all of them, I like the portraits the most, followed closely by the castle. I agree that I would do something different with the staircase. Maybe make it wind over rock in an undulating way like a snake crawling over rock, so you don't see all of it at once, and get a sense of forced perspective out of it? :)

Hey Michelle! Sorry, it took me a while to find your book.

Beautiful work here! I've seen most of it before, so you know how I feel about it. The castle is just beautiful! I really like the way you handled the cliff face there. The portrait just above your SP is also really good. I like how clean your linework is becoming.

Sorry, I don't have much more to say right now. I have to go clean the house for Amy's birthday party. I'll see you next week though.

Later.

BTW... Update you slacker!
