I have mainly posted images of sculpture on this forum, but I just finnished this illustration for an art show. The piece is titled "Parent". It basicly deals with the parents letting their kids spend most of their child hood playing video games and watching TV. don't get me wrong I love TV and games, but I started noticing youg kids and some older kids(20's) talking about games as though they were real life. example, heard a guy a few days ago talking about WWII like he had been there. He talked about what it was like to shoot a WWII rifle and stuff like that. I laughed and let him shoot a real german mouser rifle that I have. what a surprise, he complained abut how heavy it was and how bad it kicked when he shot it. So any way, The illustration deals with the kids and the massive amount of time they spend in front of video games.

I find the texture and outline effect on the boy and couch distracting. I realise you needed something to make it look less photographic, but it's just too much for my taste. Also, is the cable by his leg supposed to be plugged into him? If yes, it's not clear enough, if no, what is it doing?

I was curious how much is painted, and how much is "photoshoped" from existing images/pics? But I do like it- thanks for sharing

this image is a mix of processes. The background is scaned paint. The game boxes are created in 3ds max 7 then photoshoped into the image. the boy image was refrenced from a photo, and repainted in painter 9 then photoshoped for the final texture. The game screen captures were found on-line. there are around 20 layers in the final photoshop image.

thanks for all the comments and crits.
