These are nice indeed. You maintain their look very well through a veriety of emotions and camera angles.

Can we see more?

wow, these sketches are simply fantastic. the colorings leave something to be desired in my opinion. on the black character the highlights are too hot. on the top guy, they are too shallow. the girl's is pretty well done. overall, great designs and emotions though.

these are very beatiful. i really like how you illustrate the various facial expressions. kinda looks wierd seeing the black guy smiling because he comes off as being very agressive looking... like he'd beat the living shit outta me for looking at him.

beautiful consistent faces and lovely variety of expressions very pro man, only crit is that the eyes give away the "asian manga influenced look". try playing around with different shapes for the eyes and I think youll get a lot more depth and realism with your characters.
very profesional man. :^^:

Ok I'm probably going to be only guy who actually offers up some criticism, although, admittedly it is minor.

Your sketches are very beautiful. You are obviously a skilled draughtsmen. So your technique is not what I would criticize.

Even though the drawings are very good, they seem a little generic or plain to me. I recognize that this is purely a stylistic criticism but none of these characters leap out at me, or make me say "OH wow cool I love the ideas"

You have some very nice drawings of some average to good looking people. But there isn't anything in the concepts themselves that sells me a concept, or even provides clues as to what that concept might be.

Were I the art director for this project, or a producer and shown these, in spite of how good they are technically I would send you back to the table or go with a different concept, because these characters don't project or establish a solid identity. At least not for me, and a solid identity is something that I think is essential in a character concept. These drawings could be of anyone from anywhere.

Just some thoughts,

~S

If a comic was made to the level of finish you're achieving here with the light paint over sketches, I would be a very happy man. Why are all comics "inked" and "rendered"???

I like the faces but i agree with Stormdar for the most.
Not all your expressions are as solid as the ones on page 1

merchan
October 11th, 2005, 08:48 PM
Even though the faces are 'generic' to a degree,I am amazed at the crisp lines and expressions and ability to keep a consistency throughout.I find that very difficult and admire you rendering skill.

Very cool concepts, and I like the idea to showcase it that way, with diff. expressions. Great work.

I really enjoy these. There are some minor flaws in facial anatomy (particularly in the last image), but who cares, honestly? These are obviously sketches, and I really enjoy them. I suppose some people might say their faces are generic, and well, they kinda are, the last girl the least generic. But I still really like looking at them.

October 13th, 2005, 04:14 PM
Those are really awesome, you have a great range of emotions there. Only thing I can point out is that the first girl looks a bit like one of the female leads in Tench:Fatal Shadows.

http://ps2media.gamespy.com/ps2/image/article/557/557582/tenchu-fatal-shadows-20041015004651153.jpg

...but beyond that, excellent work.

What a waste of a first post.

There's a difference between crits and being an ass.

eyy bro,

you got some talent with facial expressions, definatly adds personality to your characters.

One thing that bothers me however, was the very last character (Of the four) which is supposably a young woman. Alot of the facial sketches appear more like a young boy then a girl though.

Other then that id love to see some more characters :).

honestly the guy is cuter than the girl(not meant to be gay), is she meant to be older than that guy (the first one)? - if yes then forget my crits ..,.

nice design btw :)
