ACK!

Just a few moments ago, I was offered a modelling contract to do a fly through in Maya. It has to be done by Oct 26.

It'll be of 9 seperate buildings (approx 74000 sq ft), modeled (buildings/parking lot/trees/shrubs/maybe cars), fully textured, and lit. I don't have too much information about the job beyond that it's a shopping centre and the square footage is split between the 9 buildings.

Since I don't really have much experience in contract work, I have no idea what to charge! Whether I should charge by the hour or by the project, or even how much to charge hourly!

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Start at $40/hour, assume it will take you every business day between now and then (because it probably will), and quote them that much. That's about 14 8 hour days, which means 112 hours at $40/per, or $4,480. Round it up to $4,500.

See if they bite :)
