In the original pic, his right shoulder seems just a tad pushed forward. If that is the look you are going for, I would rotate the shoulders a bit so his left shoulder recedes a bit.

I really like the sketches though, very good work.

Really like the robot in #3 head dress is great too!

In the #4 there's some funky anatomy in the arms of the guy his uper arms don't seem to fit the head, as well as the right arms forearm.
Actually it may be the whole upper torso that's oddly proportioned.

I think your improving, keep it up

danny, man it is good to see that one of us has actually been scanning, and i enjoy what you have been scanning. htere is some really creative stuff going on, i love the new age samurai guy thats cool. for the most part i love everything, i think the old zombie dude on page 4 could use some work, mainly defining the fingers or their shadows so you can tell it is the fron t of the hand and not a blob and the arm will read better. but thats just me and im nobody to crit so later
ill scan soon as i get back in town with new drawings i hope

all your drawings are really good. i've noticed that you sometimes draw heads that look a little short in width (from the forehead to the back of the skull i mean, not from temple to temple). also, you sometimes draw women with flat chests, although that might be intentional. :)

great work. you do seem to improve fast, looking at the first stuff you posted and the stuff you're posting now! :)

another richmond guy! :) (i live in burnaby.)

metalwinds
June 4th, 2003, 11:08 PM
thanks for commenting guys. the women dont have flat chests, but when they have some kind of armor or something it makes their breasts look smaller. some of the heads are a little short in width, even though i know the proportions of the head.. .which makes me wonder why i did that.. .. will be updating again soon

any more comments???

Rusty
June 4th, 2003, 11:34 PM
i quite like those last pen sketches, maybe throw some marker in with that style(sketchy rather than clean outline)..try a few like that, see how they come out..

also try not to hard outline shadows with your pen/pencil..i noticed it on a few of your earlier drawings..It dosent do your drawing style justice IMO..

I like the style and shading of your work. The two latest pieces have better contrast than your other ones, work on a little bit more range of value. That may add a more depth - just a suggestion. Can't wait till the next update

Rusty
June 10th, 2003, 01:24 AM
your going somewhere with that last one, just could use more modelling just to bring some of the forms/details out.

ya definitly explore more with what youve done on the 5th page(marker with a loose sketchy inkpen style)that chick on the lefthand side of that page is nicely done.her nose is a bit overworked, hands r a bit dodge, but structurally its very sound.

what up danny, good to see you posting stuff. i am going to try to give you some constructive criticism for each page.
here it goes.
page1: i like the subtle faces and the soft expressions and i think the bottom left is my fav. i have noticed that a lot of your faces are long but i like it.
page 2: i love your charcoal stuff. the lighting is nice. i think that if this is supposed to be a girl i think that the nose should be upturned a little, it will make it look a little more feminine. i am really intrigued about what was going to be created in the background. i really want to see what that is.
page 3: i think the unfinished heads are great. this marker style is really working for you. action poses are good for you too, it is a real step up for you.
page 4: golem on steroids.
page 5: again great charcoal stuff. the chick is great and i want to see what is going on in the background!
page6 : the thumb is wrong, but the idea is cool.

hope this helps.

There are some very pretty costume designs and organic appendices to be seen in your drawings. I especially like how you outline hands! Keep an eye on your legs, they need some training still. All in all, good job!

oh, wow metalwinds! You've got some amazing pieces here! I think my favorite is the one on May 7... the 8th one down... the guy with the odd mask and a cloth wrapped around his waist. Absolutely beautiful shading on that one! I like the way you're mixing the media, they seem to compliment each other well. The only parts I can find to critique on anything are the unfinished parts :) In the places that are close to finshed in your drawings, every line is nailed down perfectly..... great work!

awesome, some more digital stuff. i can tell that you are having a lot of fun working with it. i can tell that there are several artistic techniques that you are trying to work out in each piece. only advice with that is to keep learning the program.
as far as the drawing goes, keep it up, it is always a pleasure to see your drawings. all i can say is that the foreshortening needs a little work. the rendering is great tho.

yo yo yo yo what up fa shizzle my nizzle padizzle. this is corey, cool to see ur updating. i'll lend you my thoughts on those last four sketches if you dont mind.

#1: im lovin that zombie skeleton dead guy thing. a nice break from what i normally see from you. what is the girl doing tho?

#2: nice page. i really like the robot's head design. i wish i could see more of his gun-arm tho. maybe you could devote an entire sketch to developing him a little more?

#3: these kinds of poses are always difficult for me. was this from a ref? my only nitpick is that i can't really tell where her wrist ends and her hand starts(the one resting on the ground).

#4: heh, i wish i could help you with this one but i've barely even touched photoshop.

anyways, i hope that helps

that last one is nicely rendered there metawinds, chicks face on that same page is nicely markered out as well.
one thing you should try is some extreme foreshortening or something, cause its getting like i can almost predict what the next pose/face you draw will be like..

Your faces are amazing.. there's so much unique style in them I can see faces yeilding to a very beautiful origional kind of animation... and you've gotten better at them...wow...

My only crit is that you should work on some of your creature anatomy.. it never hurts to take 5 min and download the skeletal/musculature anatomy of the animal you're evolving.. but I see this improving in time just as your sketches have.

really nice stuff man,i personally think its time you started to take risks with your drawings man,im just picking up a bit of repitition with what your drawing, specially with the faces..believe me,go beyond what youve hammered into your head and start experimenting,do more stuff you might not feel comfortable drawing, maybe start of with drawing different ethic faces/clothes/hair styles, whatever..eg african,asain,indian..etc.
i just feel your drawings can be ten times more better than they r now man, just experiment..

really nice stuff,

its great to see another shinkawa fan on the board. and your brushpen stuff is really good too.

the subtle modeling however is gorgeous. i really dig that kinda work and you've got it down pat. kudos to you
