This piece is a fallout-esque character. He started out as a pencil sketch of the head and chest, with all rendering done in Photoshop.
Hope you like him!
Cheers

That's pretty cool. The proportions are off on the figure, and the piece feels very flat. Nice design on the armor though. I can see that you spent a lot of time designing it. If you had given the "overall" look of the piece the same amount of attention it would look much better.

its odd seeing such good metal shading in an otherwise very flawed picture. The textures on the crumbling wall just arent working, especially on the top areas. The furthest backround frankly looks like you got tired from working on the metal areas of the picture and just scribbled it on at the last second so you could finally be finished. The arms are a big problem proportionally. They're very stubby, and it seems like the arm is directly sideways, which would be impossible if he's holding those binoculars with both hands and the other arm is just as short. Im also not entirely sure where the light source is, and without getting too into it there are little things like the logo, which goes over chinks in the armor, not really contourting like it should. On the plus side, the helmet is pretty cool, and whatever you do for metal texturing keep that up, but work on everything else.

Looks good. I love the colors. I agree though, I think the background needs more work. The dude look right on though. Speaking of nuclear...our friendly, neighborhood nuclear plant blew off some steam yesterday. It sounded like it blew up, and it spooked me at first, but them I remembered being told in advance what was going on. :bashful:

Nice job on the soft feel too it, man. I like it. My first impression was "profile..." I wouldn't worry about changing it, but maybe next time push the faces of your design into a more 3/4 view.
Oh, and about the background, I think the problem is that your edges are too sharp there. Try softening those edges, you can just use the blur tool. Then make a few _soft_ strokes to indicate form and ta daa, done! I think, at least.

Edit* College computers suck.
Its great.
Dont u think the arms are alittle short? (sorry for poor crit as I am on a computer with poor resolution and it only shows 1/4 of the picture at a time)
Update. I think the figure is too flat. Maybe improved metal rendering is in order?

Hi Simon!! i think is a very good work, i love the colour of the armour, i think a better design of the face is needed, and more shadows, see the artwork of some guys here, they make mistakes, but they cover up with sahdows, and some clouds, specially in the background.
I hope this help you.

hmm the soldier does look flat.
and his eye glass isnt really in sideview, i think. the ground needs a lot of work, because i can see ur white bursh strokes on it.
i think u shud try to unflatted the image, and try your best to get rid of the profile view. great textures on the wall
